  1. Thank you 96RAF. I've tested this more thoroughly. The sounds are fine, apart from the tickover, which is that of a sulzer engine, like a class 33, not the EE 4 cylinder engine fitted to the class 73. As for the horns, I'm old fashioned and just want the 2 tone so haven't enabled F3. Once this is all sorted out, I have a list of locos which will be fitted with TXS as I think it is an excellent alternative to the £120+ of the others. I'm more than happy with the TTS locos I have. Andrew
  2. Thank you. I've tried this on my bench and the loco and sound stop, after a time period. Pressing "Resume operation control" restores sound and motion. The bluetooth connection remains.
  3. I am having trouble with the engine sound going off whilst the loco is moving. This occurs on both the class 73, running on a Z21 supplied track and a class 31, running on a 15V battery supply. On the class 31, the engine goes through the shut down routine.. In both cases, control is via bluetooth. I have to say, I'm delighted with the class 31, it sounds right and can be run without cleaning the track (outside).
  4. Having fitted a stay alive, my class 73 has been run at full speed today and sounds better when not ticking over. I have also installed a class 31 decoder today and am very happy with the sounds, as I am with the TTS decoders. Apologies for going slightly off topic, but the class 31 has a battery supply, from a coach. This really does exploit the bluetooth control, as it can be operated without laborious track cleaning. Andrew
  5. Full marks to Hornby customer service as I received a replacement decoder today, they had even loaded it with the requested class 31 sound file. Within a few minutes, the loco was in full running order.
  6. No problem loading the class 73 on a 21 pin decoder. I've now fitted a stay alive and the loco was noisily hauling a train round the garden today, No special procedures were used. Andrew
  7. Having finally got the hang of this new system, I installed a sound decoder into a class 73. Experience now shows that a stay alive cap is vital, as the slightest interruption of power drops the Bluetooth connection and it goes quiet. I now turn to the sounds. Back in the 70s, I used to do sound recordings on trains, sadly Hornby s attempt at the EE 4 cylinder engine does not sound anything like it should. Not only that, the horn has been programmed by a car racer. If any UK driver did that, he would be disciplined. I know you get what you pay for, but put this alongside a decoder from a well-known supplier and they are totally different. What have Hornby recorded? Once again, I applaud Hornby for pushing technology, but I'm more than happy with the old TTS decoders (I have 16 of them) Andrew
  8. If only life was that simple! I spoke to Hornby technical department this afternoon and they expected the above method to work, but are now aware of the fact it doesn't. I am returning the decoder to Hornby, as has been recommended elsewhere, on this forum. Andrew
  9. Thank you @RAF96. I have sent an Email to customer services, to get my decoder sorted out/replaced. I really applaud Hornby for the technological advance and look forward to using bluetooth control. Andrew
  10. Thank you Steve. If that's the case then I'd better get it done soon as I can see Hornby being overwhelmed with returns, as soon as these decoders hit the mass market. Andrew
  11. Many thanks. I subsequently found the other posts. Obviously I'm not the first and wont be the last to do this. The decoder does appear to work with DCC systems, so can be installed and used, with the default sounds, although it would help to know how to switch to the diesel sounds. I need to borrow an Apple device to see what that does. Andrew
  12. Hi I've just fallen into the same trap, having followed the instructions, to the letter, as I thought. The question is, will this be recoverable when the 7000 app is available, or is the only option to return the decoder to Hornby please? Andrew
  13. Hi During the setup of my new HM7000 sound decoder, the app correctly meshed with the decoder and prompted me to update the firmware. Having done this, the decoder now responds as HM6020_5051 and will not connect in the bluetooth mesh mode. I have tried a factory reset on CV8, but nothing works. Can anyone help please? Andrew
