  1. Can anyone recommend a source of 1/72 RDF loop antennas I’ve used up my small stock of Aeroclub white metal antennas Wanted: 1. Circular RDF Loop Antenna [bare wire] 2. RDF Loop Antenna, ADF `football’ in clear Perspex housing 3. RDF Loop Antenna, ADF `football’ in Bakelite housing
  2. Or is it just me? I posted a not dissimilar question a year or two ago I have built a number of the Airfix new releases in the past year and despite dry assembly, fettling, filing, sanding & lots of patience, good assembly [minimal filler] appears to be getting more difficult. From the Blenheim 1 & 1V, Defiant, Wildcat, Gladiator, Beaufort to the latest project the Typhoon. Assembly of internal cockpit, engine & wheel well detail needs to be undertaken with care to minimise joint gaps. I have recently built a number of Airfix releases from the 70’s & 80’s, allowing for inaccuracies & a lack of detail, correctable with `after market’ components, the fit of the fuselage & wings is better! With the limited run Czech kits, one expects to have to work hard, particularly with PE & resin components. After much trepidation my recent Azur Vickers Vilderbeest build was relatively trouble free. I often feel that there is too much internal detail which will not be seen on a 1/72 model. Any advice & views?
  3. Can anyone advise what adaptor/connector is required to connect a braided air hose to a Badger 360 brush? The connector I had has become lost. Many thanks
  4. I'm interested in building a model of one an Exeter 3 CAACU Mosquito TT35. Can anyone advise of an `after market' manufacturer of drogue boxes & winches, either white metal, resin or plastic?
  5. Following several years of modelling inactivity, I restarted the hobby with the onset of working from home in the lockdown. I have made inroads into my stash, unfortunately the lure of buying new models has meant that it has not decreased I have found that the welcome detail of recent aircraft releases has meant that building kits is more complex than in my Airfix modelling heyday in the 1970’s My current frustration with some Airfix models is that the level of detail in assembling cockpits & radial engines, sometimes causes problems with achieving `gapless & jointless’ finished fuselages & cowlings The new Gladiator, Spitfire PR XIX & Blenheim I are recent examples; at times I’ve wished back to my kit building of 40 years ago. I’ve also built a number of short run Czech injection moulded kits, with the lack of locating pins and poor fitting components one expects to have use scalpel, file, wet & dry & filler to achieve the desired result. So, the next model was by Airfix & low & behold I had to resort to modelling clamps to assemble the fuselage. I always do a dry run to check fit and file down any part that is not fitting – any hints please
