I notice a reverse loop that will require a reverse loop module and isolation points (if you have not yet done this) First degree radius should be avoided at all costs especially with gradients. Gradients should be 1:50 so to obtain 3" you need 150" I am not sure you have this length. I am sure others will comment on radius one curves and gradients. Wow, thank you so much for the input. Yes there are a lot of issues with that layout- in particular inclines and that nasty 1st radius! But I've been very lucky with the gradients so far. I've not built any serious scenery and I'm currently just laying things out and experimenting. I will bookmark this thread and return to your words when I sit down and pin out the final design. I'm amazed at how insightful these forums are. Thank you very much. - Callum
  2. on an 8ft x 4ft (hinged- with clearance of 130mm) this is what I'm currently working on: http://trainsetinvain.tumblr.com/post/76312945674/hornby-double-loop-layout Two major issues, flexitrack and a tight curve (I thought it would be alright on the night!) and a first radius curve which I intend to run a tiny loco with freight on). My next step is a third loop that will come off the grand suspension bridge (or similar) top left of this plan and make its way UNDER the baseboard, returning to the inside loop somewhere. To allow for large locos (Flying Scotsman) to speed across a grand bridge. I'm with RAF96 on Hornby allowing posting of images. Perhaps the community (trusted posters) could help moderate? - Callum
