  1. Hello all I'm not sure where to start but my layout is almost built and i still have some work to complete it and install it in my garage but I have been struck unwell and wondered if there is any way I can obtain help/advice to complete it or any recommendations of people who could help me. I live near Cambridge but would like to finish this installation with some help. I would need to talk it through and would be prepared to pay some expenses or come to an arrangement. Hope this fits within the rules Thanks Chris
  2. Hi, I quite like the look of the above loco but as I'm now fully DCC will this be easy to covert. As I understand it this is DC only so my question is will there be enough room under the body to install a decoder? Thanks for any advice
  3. Further to this the locos are now being delivered and look quite good (mine arrived yesterday!) Although it was inevitable that they would find their way onto a certain auction site I'm disappointed by the amounts being requested. Will these sellers pass on a percentage of their profit to charity or do they think they played their part by buying it in the first place. A real moral discussion can now commence
  4. Thanks Andy I was willing to pay for it to be repaired but I think you have made a very valid point. I was reading another blog earlier about Heljan spares being hard to come by. Thanks for all your advice Regards Chris
  5. Any suggestions please? I've not got the skills to tidy that up Thanks Chris
  6. Who ever moderates it. I'm not splitting hairs!
  7. I've had another look at the damage and think it will need a repspray as even when pinched together it's obvious. I've uploaded an image and awaiting the moderators to say it's ok Chtis

  9. Thanks Al, I'll try and upload a photo. It's a Heljan class 23 baby Deltic in green with the BR rail symbol. I've tried to obtain a bodyshell but I cant find one. I could try a repair but I don't think my talents are in that direction. Thanks Chris
  10. Hi, I've run a loco off the end of my layout causing the front casing to crack. Can anyone recommend someone who can make a decent cosmetic repair? The loco still runs fine. Thanks Chris Ps Chris I did search for this topic but nothing came up!
  11. Hi Chris/Eric, Yes I was using the parts listed but the outer and inner loops dont link up when using Anyrail which I've found to be pretty accurate in the past. I just wondered if somebody had completed an exercise building the real thing or using other software and found it works , or not! I try to avoid flexi track but I think that's the answer in short sections in two places. The layout looks good in principal but doesn't appear as straight forward. Perhaps Hornby should have another look at it. Chris
  12. Hi, Has anyone looked at the 2020 layouts esp the large corner layout R7277? I've been using Anyrail to try the design out but it doesn't fit together. Has anyone else tried it or used a different CAD system and for it to work? Thanks Chris
  13. I was going to have an incline on my layout but heeded the advice to avoid them. Well almost! I added a branch line using the Woodland scenic range and my Hornby class153 handles it with ease. I just wish I could say the same for my Pacer which is now very unwell and needing some TLC but that's for another topic
  14. After reading the suggestions and reviewing the layout I think I'll use PVA! Thanks for your help and advice. C Perhaps I should try and figure how to use Google before I do anything else
  15. Thanks Chris. How do you find these obscure items so quickly? I've spent a good hour looking! Anyhow I've located some on that terrible sale site and will try fitting them whatever way works. I'll let you know how they go Chris
  16. Hi, Can anyone tell me if the fencing from the elevated track sidewall will fit in the clips for the R537 trackside fencing? If it fits do Hornby sell the trackside fencing clips on their own without the fencing? Thanks Chris
  17. As a footnote: ebay found in favour of the buyer and it was returned to me at my expense! It's funny that it no longer runs on DCC only analogue. With no recourse I've left a negative message on a review site and can no longer trust ebay. If anyone is interested I have a Bachmann class 108 DMU in NSE livery in very good condition that I still don't need/don't have room to run. (Not sure if I'm breaking forum rules here so apologies if I am) Chris
  18. Hi! Thanks for the messages. I've had good service as a buyer but this is the third time someone has tried it on so now I take videos and photos of it running and before packing. If they had just said could they return it rather than demanding some money back I may have been more sympathetic to them. I'm not sure whether to report them to the police for fraud (for that is what it is). Most people who use ebay are honest (but to take a % of the postage is rich!) Chris

  20. Hi! I'm looking for advice (again!). I've now got my layout of 4 oval circuits and various sidings operating (the outer two are analogue and the inner DCC). I'm dissatisfied with the DCC operation and not sure if it's the Hornby controller I'm using (it's the basic DCC controller) or whether scrub it and convert to analogue. So my point is convert to analogue or upgrade the controller. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Chris
