  1. I wonder if Hornby are going to produce a Queen Elizabeth locomotive to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee ?? Stephen.
  2. I re-numbered a Bachmann Evening Star and renumbered it as 92214. We shouldn’t have to do that or Should we ??? Stephen
  3. I am appalled by Hornby’s very poor quality products. Elsewhere on this forum another contributor states that the Chinese expect a 10% failure rate. That is not acceptable when you look at the high purchase prices being asked by Hornby. Stephen Dimmock
  4. Hornby are producing a newly tooled BR Standard 2-10-0 9F. What surprises me is the choices of livery. Bizarrely Hornby are not producing 92214 “Leicester City” which is preserved in BR Standard Locomotive Green. I think a lot of modellers will be disappointed by this decision as the BR Green livery really suits the locomotive and the preservationists have got it got just right. OK yes it was Black in BR service and it only received the Green livery later whilst in preservation and it has carried various names over the years so if Leicester City is not your team you can run it without nameplates and still be completely correct. Come on Hornby do 92214 in Green. Stephen Dimmock.
  5. Yes a 4-COR EMU would be nice as well as any other SR EMU from the heritage period. Stephen
  6. I don’t think that the SR Bogie B Passenger Utility Vans or the SR 4 wheel PLV ‘s lasted into BR’s Blue Period. However lots were painted into BR Maroon as well as being in BR(S) Green. However the BR standard bogie GUV’s were painted BR Blue. Stephen.
  7. I agree that there is a market for London Underground trains especially the older units CO/COP units used on the Circle District and Metropolitan lines would sell. As has been proved by Bachmann with their 1938 Northern Line stock. Hornby have consistently ignored producing London Transport Underground models even though it is an important network used by millions of people every day. I suppose that Simon Kohler not being a Londoner has something to do with it. Stephen
  8. I would buy updated generic clerestory coaches especially in S&D Prussian Blue livery. I hate the bodged slab sided GWR offerings that have no proper body mouldings just painted sides. These are old and very poor models. Another good idea. stephen
  9. I very much agree. A coach pack with the missing Pullman cars for the Winston Churchill Funeral Train would be great. Come on Hornby, you make the BB Locomotive and the Hearse Van it’s an open goal and a no brainer. One minor point it’s ‘The Isle of Thanet’ not as spelt previously. Stephen

    Southern EMU's

I would vote for earlier period SR EMU's. 4-COR, 4-LAV, 6-PULL/PAN, Bullied designed 4-SUB, 2-NOL etc. The later units don't float my boat. Stephen
  11. Good idea. You then just need Bachman to produce a twin pack of the power cars from the original unit.
  12. Hi, I don't burst into print much but I couldnt resist this topic. I think we should broaden our sights when it comes to wishlist time. There are lots of locmotives available and I think Hornby should give the locos a rest and address the lack of early coaching stock. There is no point in releasing a new locomotive if there are no suitable coaches for it to haul. There are no clerestory coaches for the Midland Railway, the Caledonian Railway, the LNWR railway, the S&DJR railway, the LB&SCR railway, the LSWR railway or the Great Eastern Railway. The existing clerestory coaches for the Great Western Railway are very old models and they only have printed sides and no body mouldings. Generally speaking the range of Great Western coaches in use prior to 1923 is very small. If you compare the comprehensive range of locomotives produced for the same (Era 2) 1920's period, the absence of coaching stock is remarkable. Moving on, I would like to see the following London Underground models both early units and Metropolitan Railway steam locomotives. Southern Railway early period Electric Multipule units, Bulleid suburban units, 4-NOL unit, 4-LAV unit, 6-PAN, and a 4-COR unit. A BR Mark one Kitchen Car as you shouldn't be running a restauant dining saloon without having a kitchen car next to it. Happy modelling, Stephen.
