  1. I had some clockwork Dublo in the1960s which I ran on tinplate 3 rail track. I sold it in the early 70s when I changed to 2 rail (the worst bit was changing the rolling stock wheels as replacement wheels were not readily available like they are now and the need to convert one wagon to deal with the 2 types of coupling) If you do sell it then I suggest you contact the Hornby Dublo collectors club as they will be able to tell what it is worth
  2. The standard model train controller is dc. The age of the set would suggest it is dc. Only use this with newer trains that are DCC ready not DCC fitted as you can damage the DCC chip and that will be expensive to sort. what locos do you have? if I was starting out again I would go DCC and scrap the train controller you have and buy a DCC system. The locos you have will need to be converted although if any are 0-4-0 then it will not be worth it.

    What next?

Hornby did produce the LBSC guards van in SR livery in the fairly recent past so I don't think this would be difficult to do again in Brighton colours. The problem is the stock to make up trains (coaches in particular). I have an LBSC cattle to go with theLBSC version. I only wish I had purchased 5 more to make up a reasonable pick up goods train.
  4. I know I am bit old fashioned but when spending typically about £200 on a loco I like to see it run before I buy and this is not possible with on line purchases. Thankfully I can at my local shop, KS models in Stevenage, but they are only open 3 days a week. (they sell at 10% off which means that the prices are similar when P&P is taken into account)
  5. I have spent a lot this month. I have purchased H class from Hornby in SR green P class from Hattons in SR green 3 birdcage coaches from the blue box lot in SR green I will now wait for the B4 from Dapol and the Brighton Atlantic from the blue box lot to complete my purchases for the year The regret is that the way the prices have risen I can not buy BR early crest versions as I do not have the budget
  6. I have only experienced the problem with Scot and Patriot purchased at about the same time. It was solved by replacing the drivers and axles/gears. So far so good
