  1. Some people just like complaining. No I do not want to move to Australia.
  2. Your constant Hornby criticism does not go unnoticed ColinB and we are all entitled to our opinion so I will have mine. Hornby unlike many of its competitors make the full range of products for model railways, Locomotives, Rolling Stock, Track, Buildings, Control etc etc, they do not just cherry pick what to make. Without Hornby many of us would never have got in to the hobby.
  3. Time to reconfigure the track work https://youtu.be/INrdfc52Fk8
  4. To remove follow Hornbys instructions, place a flat screwdriver blade under the connecting rod near the pin and gently prize upwards. They come out without any damage and no need for pliers.
  5. According to Hornby Technical Support no spare tyres are expected to be produced. Peters Spares told me they would need to produce a minimum run of 5,000 but were unable to do so because the 14xx is a current model and would break license agreements. Perhaps Hornby need to be more clear on the future situation regarding this particular spares item.
  6. Changed some track work and buildings, then did a running session. https://youtu.be/pft-lf_BshQ
  7. My 14xx traction tyres arrived 1st class post this morning and the locomotive is now back running on the layout.
  8. @Derek_Dawson If you ask the moderator to contact me I will inform him of where at least one pair of tyres was available to purchase as of yesterday. @Walkingthedog The 14xx runs fine without tyres until it reaches the points then the grooves in the wheels make it jump the check rails. Sadly I was unable to find a replacement wheel set they had sold out long ago.
  9. Taken from the Hornby Web site We're sorry, the website has sold out of this item and we're not expecting any more stock A major spares retailer also said they do not expect them to be available again, at least I have now managed to obtain 4 pairs after many phone calls.
  10. I called around about a dozen smaller model shops until I found one with 6 in stock so bought all 6 so plenty of spares until they perish. I need to rethink buying new Hornby locomotives this is the third spares issue in 5 months on a current production model. I think Hornby expect people not to use the locomotives and just keep them in the box.
  11. Hi Rob Great minds think a like, that is what I am currently doing but as yet I cannot find anything suitable, they are too thick.
  12. It was Hornby Customer Service who asked is it less than 12 months old. I contacted the retailer Rails and they have no spares so it looks like it is going back for a refund.
  13. I have the Warley 14XX model released last year and one traction tyre has recently disintegrated. No one has stock, Hornby Customer Service Mark Lodge tells me they are no longer available despite it being a current model in their line up. The suggestion was to return the model to the retailer for a refund since it is less than 12 months old. Come on Hornby get a grip you should support your current range especially when the instruction sheet on a less than 12 month old model states spare tyres available direct from Hornby. The replacement wheel sets are also no longer available.
  14. @Dynax, were you strapped to the ceiling? Shunting freight today https://youtu.be/hEoqAqM5go8
  15. @GeoFF03 Very nice looks like a lot of work has gone in to that layout.
  16. @mjb1961 It is in the about section, but to save you looking it is approx 8'x8' I run at scale speed similar to the large railway junction I live next to, nothing goes fast around here .
  17. Just playing trains today, Dusty the cat was asleep. https://youtu.be/TZQDz7aV_vA
  18. @Dynax I enjoyed the tour round Michael, keep the videos coming .
  19. Decided to remove and replace the scenic mats, add some different buildings and change some track work https://youtu.be/HOXHc9V2suI
  20. @Jimbopuff The backscenes are made by Gaugemaster and as you say give a depth to the layout. They are available from most model shops or direct from Gaugemaster. They are also much larger than some back scenes so give better coverage. No problem in asking questions that is what the hobby is about. You do not need a magnet for the Cube it has its own powerful one on the bottom.
  21. @olly85 I did give it up but found making the videos encouraged me to run my trains and after a recent illness I needed something to do so started this new YouTube channel three weeks ago. The cats fine you can hear him in the background making his presence known.
  22. The Polariod Cube footage is straight from the camera no adjustments are made, there is onboard stabilisation which you cannot switch off. I purchased mine when Argos sold them on eBay for £50 about a month ago. I use a flat truck and the Cube holds itself on with the onboard magnet. The battery last about 70-80 mins and they supply a 4GB MicroSD card. See the video below. https://youtu.be/lwLShvylmf0
  23. I have now made a few layout changes, take a tour around my layout. I hope you enjoy it. https://youtu.be/DkfLFiJxlnM Running are Dapol 52, Lima 57, Hornby 73, Vitrains 37, Bachmann Class 20's x 3
  24. @WTD I have given up counting how many I have in my collection. I have now fixed the noisy Bachmann Jinty, as you would expect with a new model it was totally devoid of oil. They either soak them in oil or do not bother! I still keep the old Hornby open can Pannier, it is DCC fitted (Running on DC) circa 2007 and although not an accurate model I think it looks nice. 😀
