  1. Appreciate the reply - Many thanks Louisa and Dale.
  2. Cheers Patrick. Sorry about your entry. I feel your frustration ;-) My wife badgered me to enter this one, I've told her she owes me a trip to the nationals at Telford this year!! Very kind of you to respond but I'm not looking for a response from Airfix (I waited 10 months for that ;-) I've returned the K2/Y Ambulance kit and certificate with a copy of my note above. I'm moving on - Worse things happen (The one thing Ratch did say that I agree with ;-)
  3. That's very kind - Thanks Steven. Hopefully the 2023 Club Model of the Year winner has a happier outcome ;-)
  4. Dear Airfix moderator, No - I'm sending them back!!! I'll not be purchasing any more Airfix kits. What have I lost? A great experience of winning their first ever Club Model of the Year. Personnel changes or not Airfix comms have been shocking (See Airfix brand values) But yes, worse things do happen. Goodbye Ratch! No need to respond further, you've made your feelings clear, just like Airfix.
  5. Dear members, The moderators will probably remove this post but I’ll share to my 2k followers on social media too so my message hopefully gets to some of you! Before you decide on entering any Airfix competitions here’s a little food for thought for you all….. Back on New Years Eve 2022 I was thrilled to be told I’d won the first ever Airfix Club Model of the Year 2022 award!! Wow I thought, I never win anything! What fantastic news! I was even more thrilled to find out that the winner would receive the following - - An Airfix Club Model of the Year 2022 trophy. - A signed Airfix Certificate - A kit of my choice - A signed Adam Tooby printed box front artwork. Fantastic! I immediately started arranging space on my modelling shelf for the trophy and planned to get the certificate and signed print framed (to sit pride of place next to it). Amazing I hear you say - Congratulations!!! Well, no….. After many months waiting for an update I chased and chased until finally I got a reply - in April 2023, to say they were sorry, they were all really busy and could I provide a little info on my winning build, which I did, and a month or so later the story appeared in the club magazine. Brilliant I thought. Over the next few months I eagerly awaited news of my trophy, signed print, kit of choice and certificate, alas nothing ever materialised!!! So after a many more emails asking for an update and getting ignored, in August 2023 I emailed the MD - Mr Lyndon Davies (I found his email address online). To be fair I never did get a response from Mr Davies but a day or so after sending my email to him Airfix Marketing responded with vigour, arranging my kit of choice, signed print and certificate (no mention of the trophy). So finally in late August my kit of choice arrived (1/35 Austin Ambulance) my certificate and a print, but it was unsigned! After a message to Airfix Marketing they apologised and said due to holidays it would arrive late September! No problem I said. It is now October 2023 and without the ‘first ever’ Airfix Club Model of the Year trophy and a signed print from Adam Tooby I’m returning the kit, certificate and the ‘unsigned’ print to Airfix. After 10 months waiting I give up - Winning an amazing competition like this should have been a brilliant experience but Airfix have totally robbed me of that! So in the end, It seems I never really won anything at all! Goodbye Airfix! Once proud Airfix modeller (1980-2023).
  6. Very kind - thanks Randall. The kit was a joy to build!
  7. Airfix 1/72 RAF Dakota Mk.III completed! Not an accurate representation of the kit scheme as I wanted to play around with contrasting paneling and weathering using oils and pigments. The kit is one of the best Airfix kits I've build - The fit is superb! Highly recommended.
  8. Nearly there. I've added a few more contrasting panels and applied most of the decals now. Next I'm going to apply a satin varnish to seal them in and begin the weathering using oils. I love this kit!!!
  9. Well, to be honest Rod the windows should have gone in before painting! I didn't realise the frames were molded with them so I'll be retrofitting them then painting those sections again face_with_rolling_eyes
  10. Base scheme painted. Will fit and paint the windows next then decals and the fun bit - Weathering ;-)
