  1. Hi, Thought I'd share this mornings workings at Aberystwyth. A few passenger services, a spot of shunting and of course, some light engine movements. GWR /media/tinymce_upload/0750fc19fc966cf4894eff44de885bb0.JPG The morning Cambrian Coast service has arrived in Aberystwyth from Machynlleth, awaiting additional coaches. /media/tinymce_upload/c55ef7880ccba093221a5d9739f47679.JPG Meanwhile, 3206 trundles up to the junction awaiting permission to proceed. /media/tinymce_upload/630a9fd312dbde1fceb3ae58ba164f3a.JPG Sister locomotive No.3205 joins 3206 on the shed reception road. /media/tinymce_upload/fc5952840bd37f970912be12de8ab964.JPG Whilst awaiting permission, Pannier Tank No.8751 can be seen running round the local goods service from Carmarthen, in order for shunting operations to be carried out.
  2. Hi GNR-Gordon-4, Yes, I rather thought that would probably be the case. Let's hope they don't charge me much! Thank you for your advice anyway. GWR
  3. Hel , I am writing regarding a fault with my Atlas Editions Collections Glory of Steam watch. The watch is in brand new condition, it was given by a family member a few years ago. The fault occurs with the wind up mechanism. The two-in-one rotating cog which operates the time and wind up will not move. The cog will not be pushed in, in order to enable it to be wound. Any help would be much appreciated. Does anyone know anything about these, or would it be a good idea to take it to a watch repair shop. GWR
  4. Hi, The first of the two books arrived at my local library today (Thank you LC&DR for the recommendation): 'Aberystwyth to Carmarthen' This evening I have made a start on the track plan; incorporating different parts of both the 1903 diagram (that 81F kindly provided), and the copy in the Middleton Press book. I shall put a few photographs up this evening, GWR
  5. Hi Iwan, I managed to come across a link through to an RM Web post. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/127777-aberystwyth-rheidol-valley/ I also stumbled across an R.A Cooke Great Western track plan book (!) https://rail-books.co.uk/products/track-layout-diagrams-of-the-gwr-60-aberystwyth-to-welshpool-9781911038221 Hi 81F, No need to ask me if 1903 is alright - That map looks fantastic! I shall keep you posted on my layout/research, Thank you very much to all of you, GWR
  6. Thank you very much @Rana Temporia. I shall have a look. GWR
  7. Thank you very much for your advice @walkingthedog @LC&DR I shall visit my local library, and probably have a look around some (second hand) bookshops while in town. GWR
  8. Hi, I am currently starting a new layout, and I'm looking for a track plan of the former GWR Aberystwyth Station around the 1930s. Any help would be much appreciated, GWR
  9. And finally /media/tinymce_upload/afa558de2cd9529fb1cd97b240cebbbb.png The scenery piece finished with some lichen, an old barrel, old fenceposts, and other odd bits of detail. Enjoy! GWR P.s next job is to finish ballasting the short section between the station and the second (almost) finished board. Then in order to add scenery to the boards (just like I did on the smaller board), I paint a layer of black paint on first (to give a darker texture), leave it to dry then add a coat of PVA glue before adding scatter materials.

  13. Hi ackers5861, GWR is a truly great livery/style. I shall get some pictures up now, so that they're approved by the forum moderators by tomorrow perhaps? I also have a few of the metcalfe kits, the ones I own shall not be included in my section. The kits I have are the red brick viaduct, the GWR signal box (the same one as yours, I've also gone for the red brick base), and the goods platform kit. For my layout I am looking at either scratchbuilding a signal box (because my GWR doesn't quite fit without huge changes), or buying a (un)painted kit build. GWR
  14. @ackers5861, That layout i section is looking spectacular. When I get around to it I shall get some pictures up of mine. I have made a lot more progress since the last pictures I uploaded (see Page 87 on the website). I also model GWR; assuming that you're a GWR fan as well, hence the GW style box and water tank on your layout. Is the station specifically modelled on somewhere real or just your imagination? Mine is called Cwm Gurig, because it's based on the Llangurig branch off the line from Moat Lane Jct. although unfortunately I haven't been able to find any track plans of the original station so it's just based on pictures I took of the area, and other pictures online. Since the last pictures, I have ballasted, made some scenery, got the track all fixed down and working properly and finished the first board piece. Looking forward to the next instalments! GWR
