  1. Are you sure he wasn't the official rubbish collector putting his back into the job?
  2. I am about to test my latest loco. It's a new Hornby R2738 Early BR crest 2-6-4T BR Fowler Tank 42315 which has been specially fitted with two decoders for sound, smoke, flickering firebox, directional lamps and crew, plus stay alive. The sounds include coupling pull, tender box lid and coach rattle. Unfortunately the fireman has fallen out already, so I don't know whether I'll get the flickering firebox and sound of coaling until I've stuck him back in. Will let you know.
  3. Sorry, PP, but you are far from perfect from what I've seen.
  4. Good luck in your efforts, Huwsie. Let's hope you get there in the end and possibly even put a few pics up for us to see. I used to get plastered quite a bit when I was younger!
  5. Yes, those Wrenn locos were wonderful, weren't they? That lovely weight in your hand, solid, sturdy and reliable. I don't collect model railway items and was very sad to get rid of the few I had, but I run the latest technology locos and the Wrenns just got so that they didn't fit in any more. All metal wheels on them and Wrenn rolling stock made for a really smooth ride.
  6. Be careful she doesn't then boot you out, alycidon! Welcome to the forum.
  7. If it's a power wheelchair, can't you just ram people to get them out of the way, PJ?
  8. Yet another 12T ventilated van, BR Bauxite (Early), specially weathered, with a running number I hadn't got already (Ma boy!).
  9. Is that because the FS is not in quite as many bits as and is more complete than you, PP?
  10. Bearing in mind your 20 year comment. Do you think you need the other 3? Bit late in the day, Fishy but "The turntable of life has but one exit." (sic) Graskie 7/11/14.
  11. Talk about naps, I set a new record today by getting up at 5.30pm! It was actually dark outside and I was really puzzled when I woke up in the end. I had been to a pretty strenuous and very enjoyable wedding yesterday. At least you all had a break from me then, but I'm very lively now.
  12. My Tri-ang R.408 turntable only came with 4 tracked roads, one of which I removed because I felt I didn't need it. See my pictures under "Hornby RailMaster>Turntable Control" to check.
  13. Ray's diagram 3 represents the maximum 16 roads I mentioned and was usually in a roundhouse. Outside turntables did not usually call for so many, in fact I can't think of one that did. Anyone else know?
  14. What you have to remember, though, John, is that we are talking about Hornby producing a UK turntable. With the odd exception, we didn't have the continental garages, hangars or whatever setup. Virtually all were straight sheds or roundhouses. I really don't think that an 18 track turntable was ever required or even existed here, but someone may prove me wrong.
  15. I don't seem to have aquistioned much at all just lately. Perhaps I have everything now. All this wealth and nowhere to spend it.......
  16. Well, I've lost the sweepstake prize already then, PJ. Never mind, I'll just go out and buy myself one.
  17. Some wonderful bargains and plenty to keep you busy for a while, SoT.
  18. Not really bothered myself. Still plenty of other things to do. I'll probably never see it anyway, whenever it comes out.
  19. Was your iPad perhaps upside down when you took the pic, WTD?
  20. So it's doubly upside down for you, fazey? Doesn't that make it the right way up?
  21. Nice, Tony. I always refer to what I always thought was officially the "Princess Coronation" class, though, as shown in my Ian Allan Combined Volume of Winter 1960/61. Your "City of Manchester" loco is a city, of course, but certainly not a duchess. A lot of them are not Princesses either, eg 46256 "Sir William A Stanier FRS." Sorry to be pedantic but I really can't understand where the classification "Duchess" came from. In the BR Midland Region we spotters all called them "Coros". Please explain if possible, LC. You're the most likely to be able to do so.
