  1. Hoping someone can offer me a suggestion as to how/where I might find a very small item (securing pin) I've lost on my Bachmann Class 08 loco. I am aware that I can purchase the entire wheelset but that's a bit of an overkill. I believe it has to specifically be a Bachmann part as I also have a Hornby version of the same loco but that has smaller securing pins.
  2. Tony, thanks for coming back to me. Unfortunately, there seems to be little in the way of images for the Langley fuel depot, other than the fire you referred to. Do you, or anyone else, know who was responsible for the fuel depots everyday operation back in the NSE era? As I say, nothing much comes up if I search for Network South East or Railtrack. Maybe another authority had responsibility? I'm surprised there is so little that appears to be available on the web, unless I'm searching for the wrong thing! Almost any other model railway related subject and there are often hundreds of 'hits'. Steve
  3. I'm looking for photo examples of diesel storage tanks for the NSE era that I might be able to model. I've searched for 'Network SouthEast fuel storage tanks' and same for 'Railtrack' but nothing comes up. I remember the period very well but don't recall seeing a fuel depot! Anyone have any ideas where I might find examples for this period on the web? Tks Steve
  4. howbiman, if your source's info is correct, then I don't mind waiting until the new year. As for it's popularity, I would say manufacturing a new batch would make sense for Hornby, bearing in mind that the original batch stock are as rare as hen's teeth!
  5. There's a number of references to the 'R7146' if I do a search but they all appear to show a 'nil stock' status.
  6. Does anyone know of a source for a couple of Class 08 TTS Sound Decoders? Rails (Sheffield) tell me they doubt if it will be restocked and Hornby says much the same, but maybe someone knows of a couple somewhere?
  7. I will check my new aquisition when I get a chance as to whether I need an acoustic chamber, hopefully not. Meantime, herewith what I received. 10 x type S6 at £4.10 and free shipping. They have to be worth a try! /media/tinymce_upload/66dcd714089b4b400338d62fb10ff995.jpg
  8. I'm pretty sure all of these originate from the East. The eBay option seems to be an iPhone 6s speaker. I accept that it may take a while to arrive from the East but £4.22 for 10 pieces is a good deal. Anyone know if such speakers need a sealed housing, like the sugar cubes recommend, or are they ok as they are supplied?
  9. I noted someone on the web refering to an 'iPhone' speaker and being used with a TTS decoder. Given that most sugar cube speakers probably originate from the East, has anyone tried using one of the many options available for direct purchase from China? Typically, they are less than £3, and that includes postage, which is much cheaper than what's on offer here. Not sure if all such phone speakers are 8 ohms, which is an important consideration, and I can't find any reference to their impedance when I check these foreign supplier web sites.
  10. Good news. I struggled to fix via the CV29 route, so did a factory reset CV8 to 8 and all appears to be OK, now.. Thanks to all for their help.
  11. I have a couple of Loksound decoders that have worked without any issues using my Hornby Elite DCC controller. Whilst attempting to use with a newly built MERG hardware and Raspberry Pi/JMRI controller one of these decoders no longer has no motor control. As soon as I apply the smallest of speed the loco runs at what appears to be maximum speed, regardless of whether I use the MERG/Raspberry Pi/JMRI or the Hornby Elite. The decoder will accept a new address and all sounds are as they were originally programmed, I only have a speed control issue. Could you please advise what the problem might be and how I might be able to rectify it?
  12. From the responses I have received I must conclude that there's no 'off-the-shelf' solution, so I will have to try and create something, myself. I found a review on You Tube recently and it congratulated Hornby on producing a nicely detailed model that dates way back to the early 2000's. However, as 'Going Spare' correctly suggests, there are 'ageing' issues with this Networker model. On my model, the rubber corridor connection fell apart and the screw fixing the body to the chassis serves no purpose as the body plastic has perished where the screw is located.
  13. I have an old Hornby Network SouthEast 466. It runs OK, except that the rear car female coupling is limited in movement by the leading car. They use a female/male pin-style coupling. Hence, it de-rails every time at one (slightly) tight bend. Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase an alternative arrangement that, for eg, provides a slot rather than a circular hole in the rear car coupler so that it can move more independently to the front car? Hope this makes sense, image attached. Or perhaps there is anothjer solution? /media/tinymce_upload/b65937110e328ca98de3d1975eadcc2d.png
