  1. hi all,

Ive installed a HM7000 8-pin decoder into a bachmann Class 08, I ive managed to upload the sound file which works perfectly but when you apply power to the loco it dont move but the sound works to whatever the speed is set up.

Has anyone experianced this and if so is there a fix?

Ive cheched CV19 and that is set to 0 also I have also tested a normal hornby non sound decoder in the loco and that works perfectly

  2. hi all,

Im currently having issues writing cv's and loco addresses to decoders from a hornby elite controller, the firmware version is 1.45, im placing the loco on my programming track which is seperate from my main layout, when I try and read/write cv's or loco addresses the loco lights flash to say it read/write to the decoder but when I place the loco back onto the main layout it still has the default cv's and hasnt written the new ones.

any thoughts of how I can get around this or the cause of the issues, the decoders I tried programming are ESU decoder and a Hornby R8249 8 pin decoder could it be just the decoders at fault or do decoders have a write protection on them that prevents overwrite?

  3. Hi all,

I have a couple of super detailed clasugs 56 sound with the pressure contacts for making the directional light to work but there are not reliable I also have a newer DCR class 56 which has a socket underneath the cab to plug where a small connection with wire on fit into the cab which is more reliable and I was wondering I can buy these as a spare to convert my other 56's with the pressure connection or has someone on here come up with a better way of keeping the directional lighting working.

    Thanks, David.

  4. it is the new version R3751 Class 87 87002 "Royal Sovereign" in Caledonian. The pantograph is very flimsy I was going to replace the pantograph with one of the metal pantograph but I decided to send it back for a replacement but if that is the same then I will replace the pantograph with a Hornby operational metal one as the size is the same.

  5. I’ve just received my APT Power R3948 and as soon as I opened it rhe pantograph had broken off plus one of the roof detailed has broken also both bogies where hanging out of it it not the best quality compared to the 1980’s version

  6. Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could give me advice.

I have a loco which has a ZTC Control Ltd decoder and when I just use the Elite controller on its own the train runs around normally but when I try to control the train through Railmaster attached to my Elite the train has quick bursts of power and then stops and that continues unitl I stop the train.

Any ideas of whay it does this?

  7. hi there,

thanks for all your advice, I've asked Peters Spares if they sell them and they have not heard of them being sold on there own and I reckon I will get the same responce from Hornby so I will try either piano wire or Electrotren spares.

    David.

  8. Hi there,

I was wondering if someone can help me to locate where I can buy just the shafts to go into the new hornby motors that are used in the Classes 37 / 42 / 55 / 59 / 66 /73 / 101 / 121 / 153 / 156 as I build my own hornby drive units by buying the side frames, gears  and motors but when you buy the gear sets the shafts are missing.

    Thanks, David.
