  1. Ghost in the Slot ... https://www.facebook...603004470340675 Got variable speed "Ghost" car working. I can see why most "Ghosts" are really "Pace" cars ... combination of "track" connectivity, car and track "warmth", surface and timing issues, make "real" ghosts very difficult to get a consistent "play-back". So when saving a car's "car record", and using that as a "ghost" for that car, the slightest change in "conditions" will lead to big crashes. Found out the best way was to record an "average" lap for a car and not brake late or accelerate early into and out of corners. Just accelerate in the middle section of a straight. These "ghosts" are easier to "play-back". cheers kbjb
  2. My first crack at "Real Ghost cars" ... so today was wet and wooly and I decided it was about time I had a crack at ghost cars. I managed to get the throttle data coming back pretty easily and was originally going to store the values of a car's best lap in a lane and then play it back via the command characteristic via a timer. But then I thought as a quick test why not just take the throttle value from one lane and play it back in real-time to the other lane ... well, blow me down it worked. Obviously some issues with different lanes, different cars, different track power, etc. So not really what I'd want from a real ghost, but it did work and if you could manage to have very similar cars, lanes, and track conditions (connectivity, power levels, etc.) it's quite cool. So probably back to the original idea of storing the throttle levels for a car's best lap on a particular lane and then playing it back to the same car on the same lane. But so stoked that I have got something working already. cheers kbjb
  3. Thanks Blagard-01 for the reply and the info. cheers kbjb
  4. Sorry gorp - knew the 1 car = 1 controller ... was meaning power controlerl ... given I will have over 25m of track am I likely to need another power (transformer) due to track lenght or will that only be needed if I increase cars/controllers past 2? cheers kbjb
  5. Thanks Blagard-01. I did in the end manage to find this out on the forum. Currently just getting into Arc Pro and at this stage only have the Powerbase (upgrade), 2 controllers and 2 cars with chips, however my proposed track will be close to 25m when complete (even longer if I make the pits larger). Will I likely also need a second controller due to the length of my layout or is it really based on the number of cars you're running at any time? cheers kbjb
  6. Hi there - brand new to Scalextric, although as a kid I had Faller AMS and my kids had Aurora AFX, diving straight into digital with Arc Pro. So a dumb newby question ... why are there 2 power sockets on the powerbase? cheers kbjb
