  1. It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that I have moved away from Railmaster. I say "with a heavy heart" because my brand loyalty to Hornby goes deep. My mother worked for Roland Hornby (founder Frank's son) and Maud Hornby and I met them many times when I was a lad. Whenever Roland went up to the factory at Liverpool he would bring me back the latest loco. I also had the best possible of Meccano sets and a great collection of Dinky Toys. It is down to him that I got into model railways. However, try as I may with RM, I cannot get it to work reliably. The main issues are the losing contact with the layout (yellow box syndrome) and delay in function commands. I think these issues are well documented and it is not just me. I have now moved to iTrain together with Roco Z21. Mod note: Sorry Exetersteam, but the rest of this second paragraph has been removed for breach of 2nd forum rule - excessive active promotion. This was a consensus mod decision, hence why your post briefly disappeared whilst appropriate action to take was being deliberated. I have had great support from this Forum during my struggles with RM for which I remain grateful. Thank you and farewell. PS For sentimental reasons I will be keeping RM on my computer and hanging on to my 2 Elites and eLink!
  2. Thanks for that. I did the second thing to get the loco running but I will try the update.
  3. I have just acquired R3566 Nederland line and tried to enter it in Railmaster but it does not appear in the databank list. It can't be an update thing as locos up to R37xx and beyond appear. Any ideas? Cheers John
  4. Thanks Chrissaf. Both issues now fixed. Deleting the DMU and re-installing did the trick. Cheers John
  5. Good morning, I have a couple of small issues which I hope you can help solve. The first is the annoying mouse beep. It is only present when I am using Railmaster and not other programmes. Is there a way to turn it off? I am using a Dell PC with Windows 10. The other issue is setting the speed settings for non Hornby locos. I have an old Lima DMU which I have converted to a CD motor and DCC. It runs staggeringly well (I also fitted a stay alive to overcome the Lima dodgy pickup problem) but I cannot find a suitable setting in the speed rating. The only way I can get a suitable speed is to set it to 200mph max speed and 4 seconds on the bigger circle radius. Anything else causes it to run at snail pace. I don't think it can be the decoder at fault as the train runs perfectly if I control it directly with the Elite which gives a respectable 50mph (approx) when at half power. For completeness of info, the CD motor is a Strathpeffer 12v kit and the decoder is a Lias as is the stay alive (I didn't want to spend a fortune on this old unit!) Any ideas? Cheers John
  6. Success! Now I just need to figure out how to get the .wav file to stop when I turn the light off instead of continuing for it's length of one minute.
  7. Thanks Chrissaf. I have Railmaster Pro so I will give it a go!
  8. I currently have the light on top of a police box operated with a Train-Tech LFX7 module and trigger it via a colour light signal icon on the Railmaster display. Purely for amusement of grand children etc. I would like the Dr Who theme to play at the same time (I have the sound file for this). Is this at all possible and if so how do I do it?
  9. Well, I have tried Ray's suggestion of using programmes and putting the icons on the track plan and it works perfectly for what I want - sorted! Thanks.
  10. Thanks guys. I like the idea of the "programme" icon on the plan and will look into it. The Rocrail option is a bridge too far for me at the moment. I have used "programmes" with mixed results. I set one up to run my sound fitted Dapol bubblecar from the bay platform at the main station to the BLT bay platform. The run is about 60ft including a bank which resulted in some vague stopping distance issues. I solved that with ABC braking modules but sycronising this with sounds in the programme resulted in sounds going off in odd places after a couple of runs! A function of timing versus distance I guess.
  11. Thanks for this Ray. Yes, all works perfectly from the main route display at the top right of the screen and when a floating button plays nicely, the route is blue highlighted in the route box. I will try the "birdsound" solution and see what happens. You are right in that the floating buttons seem very unstable. I am finding the route setting very useful because by way of example, to get from the outer main line to the shed area, a loco has to traverse 11 sets of points! Cheers John
  12. Interesting. My RM resets the eLink every time on start up so I will down load 1.73 and see what happens.
  13. Just tried firing up my Railmaster but it didn't update. Do we know when it will happen?
