  1. Hi guys, thank you for the replies. Tbh I got them cheap for fully packaged with boxes in good condition. A rake of 12 including two first class, five 3rd class, one buffet, two sleepers and two brakes for for about £11 each, which I think is excellent value. I had suspected they had come from the factory this way, wondered if anyone had come across such issues before as even tho limited in experience, I haven’t. Obviously on a certain auction site these things can be omitted, but I’d more than likely still of purchase them at that price anyway!!
  2. Hi, not sure if this is the correct place to post. I’ve purchased a bunch of pre-owned R4180, R4181 etc EX LNER blood/Carmine and cream coaches pre-owned...12 in total, and I’ve noticed that 5 of them have Pits or small dents to the panels. They are usually found on only one side of the coach, and 7 of them do not have this phenomenon. The coaches are all in a mint condition other than this cosmetic issue and we’re sold as such Does anybody know if this is an is a known manufacturing issue or have I been duped with the “mint” condition tag. Thank you.
  3. Thank you for the information, I shall try the reset of the decoders. Just to add I fully understand the concept of Digital running and will in time (now maybe quicker than first anticipated) have individually addressed locomotives. I'm Currently in the process of building my layout, and Don't intend to run any of them properly until finished. I'm sure it would be unwise to run brand new locos (Mallard and Ketley Hall) around track covered in PVA glue, static grass and all the dust and grime associated with building a layout. Locos are still set to 03 as I was having a little play around on a non scenic area, and testing them prior to packing away until my layout is finished and in top working clean condition. I found an issue and sort to resolve by asking the question, giving as much information as possible to aid in said resolution. I believe how I plan and run my layout is frankly nobody else's business. I'm sure we all have our methods, some better than others. Thank you for the advise regarding the decoder reset, that was all that was necessary.
  4. Thanks for all of the advice. i think I will go down the indicator panel route, not only for it’s practial applications, but also for the aesthetics. The r044’s are already in the bin and a couple of CDU’s ordered Along with the correct toggle switches. Thanks, Scott.
  5. Hi, I’m having a hard time getting my head around my point motor situation on my layout. I’ve looked through a number of threads but haven’t been able to find a solution. My issue is this: I have a section behind a backscene which incorportates 6 sets of points (set track) I have tried a number of motors, The Hornby R8243 wasn’t up to the job of switching, but I have another surface mounted motor which is powerful enough. I’ve hooked these up to R044 levers and to an old R965 controller (A set up used on a previous layout) I have found issues though. I encountered these before but as all points were visible I lived with it. On occasion When moving the lever the points do not always switch...the Motor “buzzes” but doesnt throw the point (this could be the first “throw” so it’s not an over usage issue), or whilst moving the lever the point switches but instantly switches back again. These problems are sporadic and happen with different combinations of motors and levers. As this section will be out of view, reliable operation is a must! Is this a known Issue with the R044 in general or would additional power solve the problem ie a CDU or different power input? I know the R044 and CDU’s dont mix well. So different levers would be needed, Ideally if I can’t solve this id like a control panel with switches and an indicator light showing the direction of the points, but have no idea how to go about that, is there any information ”for dummies” on how to wire a panel like that? A lot to ask in one go but Ideally reliable switching is my first priority. The indicator Panel being if all else fails. Last thing I need is my Locos tripping up on incorrectly directioned points. Thanks, Scott.
