  1. In the Jan 2003 issue of Finescale modeler magazine there was a how-to article about this subject.   Motorizing a 1/72 scale mediterranean Spitfire.

I think they used an older style rotary motor that was the source of vibration in older cell phones.  Not sure if those are used in phones any more.  But the motors might still be available.  I think they were a little smaller than a AAA battery.

  2. Bish,

    WOW !

That is a really nice display.  Great kit, great builds, super finishing, all wrapped up in another vignette that adds even more interest.  Inspiring !

And it's nice to see it all come together as you post progress shots - thanks.

  3. Very nice Harrier Bish.

Nice weathering !  And I look forward to seeing the finished presentation.

Always inspiring to see your work.  I used to frequent another forum where I participated in a number of GB's that you hosted.  (AKA Bossman).  But it's been a few years.

  4. Nicely done Peter !

    And nicely photographed as well.

One suggestion for correcting silvering after-the-fact.  I have had some success brush painting thinned down acrylics on top of the decal with a very fine brush.  In some cases I was able to mask the silvering completely, and in other cases I have at least been able to make it less noticable.

  5. Lovely Job Peter.

    I can see a nice bit of fine panel line detailing in photos 3 & 5.   Subtle . . .  Nice !

And what a fun kit.  I picked that one up a few years ago at a local show.  Despite being an older kit, it fit well and built up very nicely.   It's right up there on my list of best looking aircraft.

  6. Those are awesome Ratch !     Nicely done !    Effectively throwing me back to the early '70's.

But Man !   Talk about a tough act to follow . . .   The Beatles !

Here's a group of gas burners that pale in comparison to the Fab Four . . .

  7. I once heard from a source close to Airfix that the old Sea King kit was one of the most manufactured kits in the entire range (quite a surprise actually). That would go a long way to explaining why the last releases were in such a pitiful state, the tooling must have been near shot to pieces. At least we now have a very good kit in 1/72.

This doesn't surprise me at all.  I'm a sucker for good box art.  The first time I saw the big Yellow Sea King in mid-rescue, I grabbed it and headed for the checkout.
