  1. Thanks all for the replies. First thing I will do is clean the track as this set has been a long time in the making and I probably haven’t run a train on it for a few years now and along with all the modelling it may well be a bit dirty. It’s mostly Hornby track I believe (although quite a few years since the track was laid so not 100%) and at several points around the power bus I have takeoffs which go directly to the track. I clean the track first and report back if there are still issues. Many thanks!
  2. Hi all I've finally finished my layout after many years of doing small bits of modelling here and there but since my Dad passed away in July I’ve really wanted to finish it which I have now done. Now I’m getting back to the trains and I seem to have an issue with track power. I’ve got a DCC system with a main bus which connects to the track at various places, a decoder for the points and using Rail Master. Railmaster is working fine, points operate as they should and the locos are getting the signal to move, it’s just that they are very slow to start and seem to stop quite often. I’m guessing this might be because some areas of the track haven’t got enough power. But is there a way to test that sort of thing? Or is it something else? Many thanks for any help!
  3. Thanks for the suggestions, I forgot on this new forum that you don’t get notifications of replies, so should have replied sooner. I’ll give them a go and see how it looks. Thanks.
  4. Hi Good to see the forum back up! I’ve getting on nicely with my layout, I’m just after some advice and help with regards to the surface/yard area of my distribution centre. I’ve got the buildings and fencing etc sorted, but I’m a bit stumped as to what to do with the yard area. I was thinking of concrete/tarmac effect, but not sure and can’t really find anything that works best, so open to any suggestions. Thanks!
  5. Thank you, that was exactly the one. Great website too, I’ll remember that one.
  6. I went last year but won’t be going this year. Expensive tickets, expensive parking and when you do get inside it is in far too small an area, so you are often several people deep at the popular trade stands and displays. Not enough places to sit and eat also.
  7. Thanks Chris, that is exactly what I was looking for. That's the one I found the other week but couldn't track down. Managed to find it on eBay for a few quid less too. Thanks Greg
  8. Hi I've googled but can't find anything, does anyone make a wheelchair style ramp up to a platform level? I'm sure I saw one the other week but can't find it now. Thanks
  9. I won’t be selling a faulty one. DCC Concepts have it back and confirmed it wants replacing under warranty. So if they ever replace it with new I can sell it on. Not sure about refund as I didn’t buy it from them originally.
  10. Thanks all, I’ll give the traintech one a go. Only problem is I’ve already paid for one it was faulty, so awaiting warranty replacement. I guess I can just sell it on when/if it ever arrives.
  11. Thanks Roger. Earlier this year I was told it was due to an issue with the aluminium from China. I've been chasing every few months and not really getting an answer. Don't really understand what the issue is as it has been going on for far too long to be anything such as a shortage of components. They are at the show in October in Milton Keynes so I'm going to ask them for a proper answer then. Will the ADS8FX be any good? From what I understand it is the same as the 8SX but just doesn't have the aluminium cover to it. I've not seen the 4FX and google doesn't bring any results up? Ducky1, can you give me a link to the one you use please?
  12. Hi It”s been almost year now that no stock has been available of the DCC Concepts ADS8SX accessory decoder and about 8 months that I’ve been waiting for a warranty replacement. I’ve no idea what their issues are as this length of time tends to suggest something other than what they are saying, but regardless does anyone know of an alternative to the ADS8SX? Not too concerned if it’s two four ways for example. Thanks Greg
  13. I've had a good search today and I have seen several people put R8629, R8630 and R8631 together and it looks pretty good. Just need to find them now as the R8629 is rare and a bit pricey! I've seen the Hogsmead one, but it seems to be a sloped layout with its own bit of platform which doesn't suit my layout.
  14. Thanks, yes I'm aware of the Goathland connections. Not trying to exactly match Grosmont so anything close would be great. But struggling at the moment.
  15. Hi I'm in the station section of my layout at the moment and am trying to model it on Grosmont Station of the NYMR. I'm not trying to do it exactly, just close to it. Is anyone familiar with any Skaledale (or any other make) of buildings that might be a close match to the main station building there and the other small buildings also on the platform? Thanks Greg
