  1. There are two types of bogie. The older type is fitted (permanently) to the chassis by a brass tube rivet. The newer type is fitted with a plastic spring clip, so the bogie can be easily removed and refitted. I'm looking to refit the older type bogies using a (brass) bolt and nut. Do any of you have experience of (re)fitting bogies this way? There is a plethora of bolts and nuts available. How do I determine, with confidence, the sizes/types I need? I look forward to any constructive suggestions, and thank you in advance.
  2. Bingo. Hornby R1031 it is. Thank you SO much for your help. I fear I might have disappeared up my own siding without your help.
  3. Credit me with some intelligence, please. It says Hornby on the underside of both wagons.
  4. Thank you, Going Spare. I have found images for the reference numbers you have provided, and these wagons are clearly BR era.The two wagons I have in my possession have absolutely no markings what so ever, and there is no evidence to suggest they ever had any markings.Sadly, photos cannot be added in this forum.
  5. I have two Hornby 20T mineral wagons to which I cannot attribute Hornby reference numbers. The wagons are in plain grey and plain brown. Perhaps a reader has knowledge of the reference numbers, and is willing to share them. My thanks in advance.
  6. I am in possession of a Thomas and an Edward, both of which need paint touch ups. The pale blue of these locos is very close to Caledonian Railway light blue, methinks. Perhaps one of you has some expert knowledge on the exact shade of paint I should acquire. Also, should it be acrylic or enamel, silk or matt or gloss? My thanks in advance.
