  1. Good Evening Everyone I have just purchased a 1980s Hornby APT train and does anyone know the part number for the traction tyres? Also is there a downloadable service sheet? Thanks Deano
  2. Good Afternoon everyone, DC Layout 10ft by 6ft. So I have changed my plan again (track plan 979 😂) but I have a problem with my wiring so I wondered if someone could help or send me a wiring diagram. Two loops main line / branch line, when a train on the mainline goes into the train maintenance depot it needs to cross the branch line track then go into the depot. However when a train is on the branch line at the same time it would hit the train going to the maintance shed. So what I need is when I change the points on the mainline I need a fail safe so the loco on the branch line only goes so far and stops. Hope this makes sense lol Deano
  3. Good Morning Everyone! Hopefully later this week I will start work on my new engine shed, My question is when reversing Locomotives in can I have a fail safe to stop locos hitting the back of the shed Incase I miss judge it with the controller. I was thinking of using plastic fish plates to bring the locos to a stop but how far back would the fish plates need to go? Thanks in advance, Deano
  4. @Chrissaf Thank you so much for the detailed reply.
  5. Good Evening Everyone, Quick Question I'm thinking of buying the Hornby Electric Turntable soon I was just looking into the wiring and it says to use a Hornby Controller but can I just use a 12v feed from a separate transformer ? It's a DC 10ft by 6ft layout Thanks Dean
  6. Good Afternoon Does anyone here have the latest version of the Hornby HST intercity 125 if so what colour are the headlights warm white or pure white? The reason I ask is I want to upgrade the lights on my old 125 and don’t know what colour leds to buy. Thanks in advance Deano
  7. My apologies the seller told me it was a Hornby model, still a lovely locomotive and will be my winter refurb project thank you for all the reply’s
  8. Good Afternoon Everyone, I have just purchased this Flying Scotsman and I need help to identify the model number and service sheet needed. I didn't pay very much for it and she does run and I was hoping for it to be a winter restoration project. I can tell you it's a tender drive model. Any help will he much appreciated Thanks Deano
  9. No the valve gear is not Jammed, and the wheels and valve gear do move freely when operated by hand. The wire broke away from the contact base plate on the bottom of the locomotive I re soldered it and the problem is not electrical. When you try to operate the locomotive the tender works and moves the locomotive but the large driving wheels of the locomotive do not turn But will turn when operated by hand it's a very strange fault. The valve gear is not bent and is free moving. I did not see a bush but interesting idea I will check tomorrow.
  10. Good Evening Everyone, I have a Tender drive Hornby Flying Scotsman (China Model) my apologies I don’t know the model number. Recently it stopped working stripped it down found a broken wire soldered and repaired all sorted until I put it on my layout and the drive wheels of the loco won’t move (tender works fine). So I thought the pick up plate screws were too tight so I slacked them off and it made no difference, I have lubricated the axles and valve gear no difference. The loco drive wheels work fine when I push it along the track and when I operate it by hand they seem nice and free! The motor still looks brand new and the body is un marked so I don’t want to bin it any ideas? Thanks in advance Deano
