  1. Hi there I currently have 9 locos. All lovely BR green, and so far except 2, all on changed addresses. The DMU 101 will not reprogram from 03, and neither will the class 5 shunter. Both run fine on 03, but on selecting LA on the controller and entering the new number as per manual (15 for the DMU and 19 for the Class 5) it flashes 8 or 9 times and stops, with the new number shown in the display. But locos wont run unless you reset it to 03 on the controller. Anyone any ideas?
  2. Hi there one thing im not keen on is the standard loop and hook coupling that comes with all new locos. I'm looking at a more authentic loo, had a quick look at the R7200, but they seem a bit fiddly. is there a better direct screw in replacement for the standard fitment?
  3. thanks.. wasnt sure of the exact claculation, as not had much to do with o guage, in know US is slightly different also.
  4. Hi there. im 3d printing for a friend who has O gauge and looking to do some 20 and 40 foot containers. but i only have dimersions for OO. looking to upscale the pattern, but unsure of length and width of a standard O gauge container flatbed wagon. Anyone able to assist?
  5. Ill try that... tho definitely dont solder every joiner and only 1 side. was advice given.. but makes sense.
  6. i wasnt using the terminal pins. i use the fishplate solders but once attached i solder the joiner to therrtack to ensure a complete connection. Thanks very much.. great advice
  7. Im at a point where in cabline up the layout. so i bought 6 digital power tracks. Ive also soldered cables to fishplates for additional power to sidings etc. the problem i have is keeping the cables in these power tracks. no matter how firmly the buttons are pressed the cables never seem to fit safely. anyone any advice..
  8. Thanks folks. great advice. i do have some old steel track, that i inherited, but have been buying job lots of nickel silver. Ambition wise. its a big set of boards. but im just going at my pace, learning to craft scenery, card kits etc./media/tinymce_upload/75ee4f119eee08947f324509a159b746.jpg. its taken me 5 weeks just to start laying the track. planning the goods yard which will run into a double mainline beyond is a terminus station (ignore the platforms, just testing, to the far end (fairly straight forward, ) then it will loop 3/4 way round to a mainline station. the far end will also branch off to a coalmine and run coal trucks into the goods yard. Photo attached, this is now all joined up. The theme as you can maybe see is pre beeching steam. local services and freight only.
  9. Hi there. New to forum, and layout building. Somethnig ive always wanted to do. and the house i now own was boarded out in teh loft a waist height with lovely 12mm ply so its kinda rude not to. ive decided to go down the dcc route, managed to pick up a pre owned select for under £50, and i get the theory with wiring, (i work in theatrical lighting) however i have a couple of questions... 1stly.. track foam underlay. necessary or not. and Was just watching some very good videos on track laying.. and its given me a couple of questions.. track metals, which is best? Also can steel track be used in conjunction with other track metals I. E. nickel silver.. Im aware of the oxide issue, it not being conductive on steel or brass. But is that the only reason to not use a mixture or steel an nickel? Sorry if this sounds a bit dumb..
