  1. Hi it’s been quite a while since I last used the forum, I was very sorry to hear about Chrissaf’s passing , my sympathy to his family and to you all at Hornby. My question is I have fitted peco point motors using there brackets and the brass screws they provided, the screws are slotted and are soft you can’t put much pressure on to them, has anyone had this problem and if so what alternative screws did they use, and hopefully they were crossheaded screws. One other thing I did have contact with Chrissaf a couple of years or so about my layout, he posted a diagrammed of where to connect my power wires when having points on my layout, I cannot find it know, any chance you can tell me where to find it.Thankyou. Moggie
  2. Hi Chrissaff I apologise now if I am repeating my question to you. When using isolating joiners when connecting two circuits with points, do I have to fit a n extra power feed to the piece of track or is it when I connect point motors they initiate a power feed. Moggie
  3. Hi Chrissaf. I am still sorting out my point motors and switches.I have had two of the trains running . One on the outside oval with it going into the outer loop. The second train going on the inside oval but it only goes through the inner loop. Its not going around the inner oval.I know where the problem is, as you stated when looking at my layout you advised me to put isolated connectors on the points that link the outer oval with the inner oval, Will this be corrected when I do wire up the points, or do I connect power cables to that rail with another power source. Moggie.
  4. Thankyou null-null98 that was most helpful.I got the required cable and colours I required. Moggie. Thankyou also chrissaf for your advice although I am finding it a difficult soldering the motors and switches, I did manage to solder my power wires to the rails.
  5. Hi Crissaf In my thread you mentioned about getting cable size 24/02. Where can I buy it from I've tried electrical shops and looked on line but can't find any. Can you tell me where you get yours from. Moggy
  6. Hi Chrissaf I apologise for spelling your name wrong in my earlier thread. I will be using a PL 27 to house all of the point switches. So I take it I will join them all up with the brown wire.I then take it the green wire will terminate at the last point motor. I do not know how electrics work. By the way have I pressed the right coloured button to send my thread.Thankyou for all your help. Moggy.
  7. Hi Chrissof and every one. First off Chrissof I couldn't find my layout drawing that you kindly located where power feeds should go plus also where rail insulators would fit on the points.I am at the stage to fit point motors, with using a cdu and point switches. But I am in a quandary how to go about doing the wiring. My layout is dc and will have at least 4/6 point motors in use .I have watched some videoa on YouTube but they mainly talk about DCC. As I have 4/6 point motors do I need to use a bus wire.Iam using a HM 2000 power unit. The point motors are Peco PL-10E. The switches are Peco PL-26And a Gaugemaster Cody. What wiring do I need.I am not using any accessory switches at the moment. Thankyou. Moggy.
  8. /media/tinymce_upload/13490fd6e89a0591874ed9e39fb55d1f.jpg Thank you Chrissaf for you reply all the information is very helpful. The peco points are st 244 & at 245.I have taken a photo and drawn a sketch of my layout showing where all the points are placed. I apologise now for the scrapy drawing. It's not to scale. There are two points on the outside oval to the inside oval have not any holes for the point motors. Will I have to drill holes. Or replace them.I have noticed a flaw in my plan, I had planned to be able to move any of my trains from the out side track to the inside, and vice versa. But once the train goes from the out side to the inside it cannot get back to the out side with out reversing the train through the various points. Any ideas to to sort out my problem. If it can be done.? I hope I have sent you my photos . Moggie/media/tinymce_upload/b66b62c939602dfaad0ab0822f11b1cb.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/82be2a16d0184935d5a117eb74cb2fb5.jpg
  9. Hi community moderator and fellow members. As I have stated in an earlier forum I have set up a double oval with two side Spurs also sidings. Layout size 6ftx4ft. I have a Hornby 2000 controller.i have installed 10 points mainly curved. Some are Hornby some are peck. Can I use a standard point motors for all of the points. How difficult is it in doing the wiring. And will I need to add extra wiring of the track to the controller. It's mentioned by other members about using bus wires. Is that for dc set ups as well as DCC. Moggie
  10. Administrator. Am I right in supposing that the forum users cannot buy and sell items, according to the rules.
  11. Hi moggie here again.I am grateful for all the feed back. I didn’t realise how big a problem I would have with my set up o wanted to do.Some said in a earlier forum which I can’t find now that peco curve points are better than Hornsby. Would those be St 244 & St 245. And regarding down loading information and photos I am not very computer savvy.I am using my iPhone for this forum. moggie.
  12. Hi ackers 5861 . I am very impressed with your layout. Can you tell me how many trains do you run on the layout, how many controllers do you use, how many stations have you and how long are they and how are your trains. moggie
  13. Hi Chrissaf in reply to your message on the 29 June 2019. You said my plan for my layout maybe undoable. I see what mean by looking at the track plan for the different radiuses and the set gap between the ovals. In the track plan it shows the position of the curved points for the changeover between ovals. I have tried mirroring this in the opposite corner but in the other direction._The distance between the tracks is too narrow as you stated.I may try putting small straights between the points. With using these points for the two cross overs will I have problems with the power to the two ovals and loops. How do I answer to people answering to my questions.Sorry I cannot send a photo of my track plan
  14. Thankyou Chrissaf MD. I I have decided to change the design of my layout. As I described in my earlier forums about having a double oval with two side loops, one inside and one outside, plus having two crossovers from the outside to the inside and back again using straight points. But where the points are located stops me having island stations. So I have decided to use curved points, but I have hit a problem with having two points for the changeover and having one for the side loop in line, could create a problem when moving the point.Do Horby do a three way point.
  15. Chrissaf CM . Thankyou as Johnny Nash once said I can see clearly now.As some said in a earlie forum there are some silly questions asked. It appears I’ve joined that club.
