  1. Can I suggest the superglues made by Delux, they do a number and I use Rocket Max. At Telford this year I bought one that works in 5 seconds, and I was advised to place the two parts together and dribble a little on the join. Yet to try. Must admit I don’t really understand accelerators.
  2. I got through loads of superglue, I use it occasionally. Then I came upon a product sold by Squires, Micro Tips and Tube. In effect you have a narrow tube from the superglue. Being very narrow it probably takes a couple of days before it clogs, when it does snip just a little bit off the tube and you are back in business. The Micro kit is £7.99, on the face of it a bit expensive, but I have wasted far more glue. The other great advantage is as a thin tube, as an applicator, enables you to put the glue exactly where it is required.
  3. Mark I really sympathise with your view, I am much the same I came back to model making when I retired, got myself an airbrush and struggled from then on. I go each year to Telford and part of me comes away thinking I might as well give up. I think you have to be true to yourself, is what you are building better than that which you built previously?. It also helps to join an IPMS club and I learn little bits from other members, for example I now use Glue ‘n’ Glaze to fix clear parts, I learnt that after trying to glue a gunsght in the roof of the canopy of an Owl. I have also done a number of courses with Scale Modelling Now, www.scalemodellingnow.com, I have no link with them, but they couldn’t be nicer people. I am never going to be as good as two of the members of our local club, but I can strive to close the gap, and they are always ready to talk over finishes and little tricks. I am edging out into weathering, but I am hesitant and don’t want to completely cock up £50 of kit, and loads of hours of work. On getting off paint there are lot of methods for different paints. Shout if you want some of them, but I suspect many others will join in.
