  1. Hello folks. Is it possible to add an image for ones avatar? Thanks Guy
  2. Thread resurrection grinning I bought the Airfix Chipmunk with pocket money when I was nine. Bought in the morning, glued together unpainted within an hour, transfers applied straight onto the silver plastic, flying it in the street by lunchtimejoy From then on I was hooked. As a youngster I must have bought a 1/72nd scale kit nearly every weekend. Went through all of the single engined WWII fighters before progressing on to the larger kits. I well remember painting an Airfix He-111 with one matt dark green and one gloss bogey green!sweat_smile (The shop I was using only carried a small range of paints.) Eventually I could progress to the four engined heavies. The Lanc, B-17, Halifax, B-29. My favourite was the Short Stirling. Fantastic box art and all of theose yellow (gloss again in my case) bombs. The biggest challenge was keeping the props loose so that they turned in the wind as you ran down the street. Imagine a twelve year old carrying a SuperFortress at arms length with all the props turning. Happy days. wink Cheers, Guy
  3. Does the wish that Airfix would dip their toes in the 1/32nd scale aircraft arena count? No? Ok then, how about a deHavilland Vampire in 1/24th scale please? Surely much of the research was done for the 72nd scale offering a couple of years ago so that ought to help. Used by a few airforces worldwide to help with marking options, not too large dimensionally or too complex physically but with bags of character. It would be great to see the design team go all out on this one. Cheers, Guy
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. I feel they're missing a trick. Yes, 32nd scale is quite well populated but since all of the research has been done for the 1/24th scale counterparts surely the "only" thing left to do would be the tooling? Costly no doubt but with the choices that Airfix offer they could surely recoup their initial outlay? Hey-ho, just wishing and hoping I suppose. Cheers, Guy
