  1. Thanks for your help! Well it sounds like I have a few options, ideally I would like to be able to fit a decoder without making alterations to the loco itself. My only other question is whether these dcc decoders will be reliable on a Hornby Select V1.6?
  2. Hi there, Does anyone know the compatibility of a Gaugemaster DCC93 6 pin 2 function small digital decoder (Ruby Series) with a Hornby Select controller. I see that Hattons are recommending this as the decoder to use for the Ruston 48DS. Alternatively, does anyone have a 48DS with a standard Hornby 6 pin plug that they can assure will fit? Many thanks
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. There certainly seems to be quite a few options. If I were to extend the speaker wires into the tender and plant the speaker in its enclosure facing up onto of the tender weight. Would anyone be able to share a link with some instructions as this appears to be the least challenging method of installing the TTS. Otherwise, if I were to plant a sugar cube speaker in the main loco, where would I find one and what wires would need to be replaced?
  4. Here is a picture which I grabbed off the web. It's a bit difficult to see but I've circled the little plastic connector. Hopefully this narrows it down a bit.
  5. I bought it brand new a few years back in the R1167 Flying Scotsman train set. The tender isn't connected to the main loco by any wires, it just has a little plastic bit that hooks into the main loco. I had a look at the instructions and it said that it had a speaker housing in the tender for TTS. The only thing is that the instructions might just be generic and I need to somehow connect the tender to the loco.
  6. Hi everyone, I own a RailRoad Flying Scotsman and I would like to upgrade it to TTS sound however the socket is in the tender and it doesn't have an electrical connection to the main body. I was wondering whether I will need to solder in a connection (or use a different method) for it to work and if so, how would I do that? Thanks, Harry
  7. Thanks so much for your help. I’ve just had a look at the RM thread on the topic and given it’s just for my own enjoyment I think I’ll just get a Crosti chip as I won’t really notice any huge differences.
  8. Would anyone know whether there is any difference between the two TTS decoders. I purchased one of the centenary Evening Star locos and I want to add some sound to it but most of what is available is the Crosti version. I thought someone else might know if there is any difference between the two decoders and if it would sound the same as a normal 9F. Thanks, Harry
