  1. Hello, yes i have just oiled etc, and it works a better. The firebox glow has been removed by someone. Thanks
  2. Hi, i have just bought a lovely Hornby RS508 Flying Scotsman Train Set. I don't know why Hornby decided to put first radius curves in as a big 4-6-2 does not suit first radius. Anyway when i tested it with the curves it hated them, (i did clean them). I have serviced the engine and cleaned the wheels, etc. I put the engine on some Hornby 3rd radius nickel silver curves and it only managed to pull 3 coaches at a slow speed. I don't know what to do so could anyone help? Thanks
  3. Hi, thanks for the help. So what would the two be worth? Thanks
  4. Hi, i have recently discovered 2x Old Triang blue coaches. One is the vista dome and the other one is a standard blue coach both are coloured blue. They are both made in Australia and both have WHITE lining. The ones that i found on the Hornby guide have yellow lining. Can anyone please help as i have no clue where to look or how much they are worth. I did see one coach with the yellow lining go for $355 just 3 hours ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. To add to my collection are five Triang point motors, Hornby R455 Industrial tank, Hornby mallard and a Class 5 weathered. Merry christmas to everyone.
  6. Why does a bachmann nickel silver track have a hornby R601 made in Austria made on it? Very strange.
  7. Hello, thanks for the response. The problem was the blanking plug shorting on a screw. Thanks
  8. My Honrnby Mallard that i bought seconhand has recently gone up in smoke. I put her on the track and she stuttered for a bit and went up. Once i removed the body it didn't happen again, and ran well. What is the problem? Thanks
  9. Can anyone help. My Hornby R2450 Class 5 has a piece of valve gear in the wrong spot. Here is a picture. If you have a look at pictures online you can see the problem, ( right next the the 4th bogie wheel). How do you recommend fixing it? Also can anyone recommend these, i only got it yesterday. /media/tinymce_upload/4a320cb792f4bbdd693b986e7088c82f.jpg
  10. Has anyone figured out why the 1980s Hornby boxes has the odd 's' on the box. It seems to be not only locomoitives, but wagons and coaches. My favourite box would have to be the R504 Intercity set, or the R573 signal gantry.
  11. Can i ask why the Triang Hornby/ Hornby models in the UK so cheap? Here is Australia a Triang jinty can cost as much as $85!. Why the price difference? I know that they are more readily avaliable in the UK, but why?
  12. Hello, can anyone please provide a track plan for the 1974 Hornby Railways catalouge, page 2. Many thanks.
  13. I would give it a good clean with some oil. Does the tender have pickups to the locomotive? These could be causing it to be stiff by rubbing against the wheels if not in the right place. I don't own one myself so i can only say the most common/ obvious reasons.
  14. Hello, i am going to try using Series 6 nickel silver track. Because i use a lot of old triang/ Hornby wagons changine the couplings will be expensive. What gradient should be used?
  15. Hello, I am using a mix of super 4 and series 6 track. I use the old system of the old Triang like couplings. Are these easy to use with the hump system? I am experimenting with Hornby uncoupling ramps now.
