  1. Dear All Thanks for your swift replies. The base is very stable and showing no distortion or movement at all so think the shade/flexable track/unpin worth a shot soonest. It is the large curve at each end of the oval (of the outer track) that is showing the problem so 'unpining' majority of problem area immediate favourite .....and pulling the blinds down!. Ive googled flex track as didnt know that was available so that sounds a good solution. Thanks all Martin
  2. I have recently completed a double track and sidings on a Hornby track mat and mounted it on a pine frame, covered in hardboard and then on Sundelea board. Its rigid and no twisting/warping; its stable. The layout is in a summerhouse so there is some temp variation. The inner track is fine but I'm fighting 1-2mm gaps in 3-4 places opening up on the outer track. I have taken the pins out in cooler days and re-pinned and all good for three days then it occurs again....even in warmer periods. Are there any tricks to 'fill' the gaps? Wondered about melting a little solder between the joints? The track is all OO Hornby......some mine from 60 years ago!, some my sons so 35 years old and remainder from a new Hornby starter kit..... the layout is for grandson. All the track looks the same and I have changed the old connectors with new Hornby ones. Thanks for any comments Martin
  3. I am making a set for grandson based on Hornby trackmat with 2 circuits. I already had some track but bought starter set to get train, controller, electrified rail. I've made a base board and after laying out complete set electrified outer circuit and pinned one track at a time as train went around to check all ok. I do not have a link set to power inner circuit so question is can I use the 'uncontrolled 14v ' output on back of transformer to power inner so I can pin that circuit one piece of track at a time Thanks
