    Walrus

according to Ronald Bassett's book on HMS Sheffield this aircraft was launched at 12:30 on the 27th of November during the battle of Spartivento to spot for HMS Renown. Flown by Lt Charles Fenwick and Sub/Lt John Groves the aircraft was damaged by gun blast (Sheffield) and shell fire (Italian) during the launch but despite damage to the rudder and the loss of the rear hatch L2228 completed its mission. Another Sheffield Walrus, P5670 was named Terror of Trondheim in 1940 following a reconnaissance mission over Trondheim on 17 April, the crew members included Sub/Lt Groves, L/Cdr G Hare and Leading Aircraftman C Wilson. After landing at Namsos the Walrus was refuelled and water taxied down Namsos Fjord in the dark to rejoin Sheffield at the mouth of the Fjord. P5670 appears to have carried the same scheme as L2228 but the name was painted on the port side just below and forward of the cockpit in the same manner as L2228
