  1. I put my finished sprues in the recycling bin for collection along with regular plastic and cardboard. My finished kit boxes go the same way. It is the council recycling depot that will sort out unsuitable waste and send it to the incinerator. I have also disposed of all my unwanted kits in the recycling which included areas/eras I no longer build. My wife assures me that all my collection will go in my coffin for cremation when I go....what a lot of pollution that will cause.
  2. I think you will also find that one of the XXV squadron decals at the top of the tail is the wrong way round for the numerals.
  3. I bought a whole load of Mig 15s and A-4 Skyhawks for cub scouts to build. Most had never built a kit before, with some advice they turned out some good efforts. Parents helped with painting and decals. Those were cheep and simple kits at the time.
  4. Well it looks like one of my wishes is on the future release list, but not by Airfix. The AMX is listed for the future by Italeri.
  5. Real aircraft are often dull, scuffed and dirty, only museum exibits are shinny and clean. Models do not have to be perfect, they can be imperfect in their paint finish. My opinion only!!
  6. And finally please reissue the Puma in the update mode as it finally leaves RAF service
  7. I have to say that I was most surprised with this issue, as I have used the same varnish many times before. But having said that, my previous varnish was water based and this one is most definitely not. I did wonder if the advice is to go back to the previous varnish.
  8. Having painted and applied decals to my kit, I proceeded to apply varnish to finish off. This is a repeated process I have used on many many of my kit building. I use Humbrol Acrylic and gloss paints, as normal. The varnish is a regular home ware gloss clear type. Immediately the Acrylic bubbled and crazed, but only on some areas, it did not do the same on the gloss or affect the decals. I have never had this happen and as I say, I have used the same paints and varnish process many times before without issue. I did leave at least two to three days before reaching this point. My question for input, is there a specific varnish that should be used or are all equal? Given that specific model paints are now so difficult to get in shops and model shops are disappearing fast.
  9. Its not the best 104 out there but it has a lot of nostalgia levels for me. It certainly was the first of many 104 kits in my collection. If it came out again in the Classic range it would be very welcome, but I would need to consider another set of markings as an alternative.
  10. On reopening date (12th April) I trolled off to Hobbycraft to buy some Humbrol tinlets as I had used up several colours during my lockdown building spree and I knew Hobbcraft stocked them. Shocked to find just a basket of last dregs of Humbrol tinlets and counter staff stated they have a supplier dispute and will not get any more. I did get some Revell colours but not the one I wanted. Now apart from Hannants online where can I get Humbrol paints locally. Seems silly to wait for a large order to go to Hannants or pay extra postage for one or two tinlets. Parking in Eastbourne is a nightmare for the only modelshop anywhere near.
  11. It seems that Airfix is not issuing anything in the current or future list of RAF aircraft. eg F-35 or Poseidon But there are also some of our Allies aircraft which are not being covered. eg Rafale or AMX There are not many or any other makers of these kits, so there is a gap that could be filled by Airfix. All in 1:72 please
  12. Thank you Ratch, I've look on ATF now and see the list and analysis of the scales there.
  13. I don't have any information on the Quick Kit series but I do have a question about the kits. I would be looking only at the aircraft as this is my subject matter. My question is : What scale are the kits made to represent?
  14. I am inline with all the above, in that I would prefer to build my aircraft with crew in place. I have been buying pilot figures from other sources, and have also resorted to raiding unwanted kits to get the pilots. One really big issues is the bad fit and need to cut off legs to get pilots to fit in. Very big issue is the lid does not sit properly when the driver is in place. So please Airfix, provide correctly scaled and fitting pilots every time on all the aicraft lits.
  15. If Airfix would look at aircraft that no other makers currently produce, then my suggestions would be for Rafale in soon to be Greek and French options, AMX as soon to go out of long time service in Italy. A Phantom recce version RF-4C/E Gripen (if Bulgaria get them) but with CZ and Hungarian options All 1:72 These are such good looking aitcraft and need more exposure
