@TrainDriverJohn will do but don't hold your breath it's taking a bit of time removing the old paint 😢 Just had a reply from Hornby to an email I sent them on the 17/8/20 asking if they knew the colour they replied today telling me the colour is RAL 1003. Worth knowing for next time.

Hi All Thank you all for your replies. update on paint: I went to Jawel paints in Tamworth and left the tender with them, they managed to mix me the paint (in an aerosol) and it's an exact match (very pleased). It cost £10 (bargain). I've respirated the tender and it looks brand new. All I need to do now is find a way of painting the fine black lines that are on the tender (proving to be a bit of a problem). if anyone is interested I will give you the code for the paint or let me know and I will get some mixed up and post it to you.

Hi Thank you all for your input very helpful. The tender does not get hot so does not require special paint I have ordered paint from bestcoldiy ( will see how it is when it arrives) I have tried halfords and other car shops but nothing comes close I am going to jawel paints tomorrow to see if they can mix the colour for me as spray can.
