  1. @sarahagain - Thanks again for input The loco is variously stamped Meccano Limited, Made in England, Type EDLT20, Hornby Dublo. As far as I can see there is no insulation to the loco wheels on either side, but this is without any disassembly (which I probably don't hve the tools/expertise to do in any case!). Still scouring house for a 9v battery and leads! Regards.
  2. Many thanks for the input/comments. Based on my, perhaps slightly naive, observations: Box says '3-Rail' There are definitely no plungers. I cannot see any thin sprung contacts anywhere. There do appear to be plastic wheels on one side of the tender and metal on the other - 5Dublo2 your powers of observation of the photo are amazing! I have not yet put any power across anything - my electrical prowess is pretty non-existent! I presume the driving wheels are the middle of the 3 on the loco with the cog-type arrangement between them? PP3 clip with dangling wires....????? Once again, thanks to all for the input - I know it's not easy doing this remotely!!

  4. Sarah, Many thanks for your response and apologies for lateness of reply and also if you received replies from me just quoting your response. I’m not quite fully sure how the reply button works yet!!! I didn’t ask it to include the quoted text and am not conscious of hitting send!!! I can see two holes in the underside of the loco, but no apparent plungers. I assume there is one just behind the front wheels and one just in front of the rear wheels? Are the plungers liable to fall out? I would think and hope this was pretty unlikely given the way the loco has been boxed up. Many thanks again for your interest. Regards.
  5. I have been passed 1 of each of the above (both boxed), but know nothing of their workings. I have no track/power supply, but am looking to test whether they work. I see from the box they run on 12v and I have a 12v battery (which I hope works, it has been out of a house alarm system for some years), but do not know how best to connect it to the locos, not where the 'pick up' points on the locos are. So, any advice very welcome!! Many thanks in advance.
