  1. I think most likely just a one-off fault or a small run of faults; probably to do with Covid? Less people on the factory floor, etc. The Dambusters version of the kit arrived today and it's a beauty and in perfect shape..shouldn't have any problems with those at all! Fortunately I also had my dad to ask for help, he knows all the old tricks from being an old school model maker when he was a child...Garden pegs to hold troublesome bits together, etc. Let us know how you get on!
  2. I've chosen the Airfix kit! However a word of caution; I also have the Airfix Lancaster B.III that is a fairly recent release, and it was a job of blood sweat and tears; the fuselage was twisted, as was one wing and the bomb bay doors. With a lot of filing, liberal use of a hairdryer and some filling cement I managed to wrestle it back into shape, but if you do go for Airfix, be very careful with the B.III 'S for Sugar' Lancaster, and if possible stick to the actual Dambuster kit. They are mostly the same, but with better quality control. And if you want the Guy Gibson one like I got, that's the one that specifically includes the paints and brush, so its easy to tell the difference.
  3. Nevermind guys, I managed to work it out, and I've found one!
  4. Hi guys. Question about the Dambusters Lancaster kits in 1:72. Does anybody know which kit, or which box art specifically to look for, to build the Guy Gibson version? I have found plenty of these kits online, but one of the versions has a variant where you can build the aircraft of Flight Lieutenant McCarthy DFC, or Flight Lietenant Barlow DFC. Undoubtedly heroic chaps whom flew aircraft anyone would be honoured to build, but I want the Guy Gibson variant. Does anybody know which box art I need to look out for to ensure I get this one? Obviously with another lockdown I can't go to my local model shop and check, sadly. I realise also that both are currently out of print so I am buying from Ebay and the like, which is why I wanted to make sure I asked here first. Hope you're all keeping well.
  5. That I had no idea about! Thanks for the heads up! And thanks to everyone else who replied too!
  6. Thanks for your reply! On reflection I've decided to keep it either way; I'll set it up for a Black Buck colour scheme if I can't paint it as a B2 version, because lets face it, its a gorgeous kit either way. Good idea about the instructions; I'll check up on that and if I can make it as the B2 I will, but if not I'll set it up in the Falklands War livery; it'll look great alongside my Buccaneer that way too!
  7. Hi everyone! First time posting here! Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I just wondered if anybody knew whether the actual physical differences are between the two Airfix Victor kits. The one I have is the K.2/SR.2, which to my understanding is the refuelling variant; however the one I wanted was the B2 nuclear bomber variant. Is the kit identical except for the transfer sheet? or is there more to it than that? I just wanted to know before I sent this one back, because if its a case of it being mostly identical I'll just acquire transfer sheets from somewhere. Thanks!
