  1. Thanks very much Chrissaf. I totally get it now. I just need to connect the outer and inner loop of track together with points then place in point clips to provide power around the whole track. Then place the trains in whatever direction I want. Once again thanks for your help and quick response. I am afraid there maybe other (simple to you) questions in the future!.
  2. Thanks for the reply. Yes I am still in old school dc mode!. What I need to achieve is to have the outside track running clockwise and the inside track running anti-clovkwise. I now get that it doesn't matter which way round it is wired but I am still trying to get my head around it all. The outside track I can connect with the power track to the elink. It is how I would connect the inside track also. If its not clear what I'm asking then I will try to draw a diagram of what I mean then try to post it here. Thanks again for your help. I will get the hang of it one day!.
  3. Hi all. Have my elink up and running now. Have my trains with different codes and have sound!. What I would like to know now is I have the "track output" cable (A&B) in the elink and the other end in the hornby dcc track connector. I would like to have the trains running in opposite directions. I have another hornby dcc track connector but what would I use to connect this to the elink and track connector?. Can you buy extra "track output" cables?. Thanks.
  4. Hi all. Newbie to DCC model railways. I have now got my e-link to work with railmaster. My next challenge is to change the locomotive ID's of my 3 trains. How do I do this?. Do I need to change it in the CV's then write it to the locomotive and then change it in railmaster?. Is there anything else I need to do?. Another question. Is it possible and safe to run 2 locomotive 's on the same track at the same speed or do they need to be on separate tracks?. Thanks Last Edited 05:40:01 Thu 4 Mar 2021
  5. Hi all. An update. I have given up trying to get the elink to work on my Windows 10 laptop. I switched to a Windows 7 laptop and installed using Administrator rights. The elink still did not work. After reading the replies to my original post i checked the ini files. On the Windows 7 version i did not have the Alternate and Comm commands. I tried the very last resort of typing the missing ini files. I saved, exited and restarted. Amazingly it worked!. I have not turned off laptop yet to see if it comes back on but it is a start!. Thanks very much for all your help. Now i need to work out how to play sounds!.
  6. Hi all. Still having problems trying to connect elink to laptop. Think now it maybe an elink issue. I have attached screenshots to this post in the hope that you can check if i have done it correctly. Cant really see what else i can do.
  7. Thanks for info. Have changed the ini files and moved them to the end as told. But it still says it cannot connect. It asks to remove power then USB and then plug them back in. Still not working. I will try another laptop to see if I can get that to work. I will let you know how I get on.
  8. Hi all. Sorry if this has been mentioned before but i cant find any posts on here about my problem. I have a Windows 10 laptop and i have installed Railmaster with the pro version. The problem is the laptop will not find the elink. I selected the correct com port which is 3 and set the baud rate etc to match. What i am finding on device manager is the com port only shows as USB com port 3. According to youtube videos the USB com port should display the elite and not just the com port. I have tried updating the drivers and also searching for the drivers in the railmaster folder but this has had no effect. Can anybody help please? Dont know if anyone can help here or if i need to go on the Microsoft forum!. Thanks.
  9. Hi all. Just starting up again after 40 or so years!. New to DCC. I have e-link and railmaster software. On YouTube I see some have a test track to set up their locos. Will I need to do the same or can I program them in on a circuit?. If I need a test track how do I set this up?. I have a digital track peice (R8241) so can I just use this?. Any help with this or setting up locos will be most welcome!. Thanks
