  1. I did it, detached three 12mm wagons, they actually put magnets on them to weigh them down.
  2. something like this would be perfect for my needs: https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/images/product/190920%20BACHMANN%2038-727.jpg But unfortunately, because I'm from Australia, I can't find anything like this here and they are also quite expensive.
  3. Is the base flat (when top is removed)? I’m planning to mount action cameras on it.
  4. I've noticed that some wagons/coaches are "clipped" onto the base whereas some (such as the Pullman coach) have a "unibody" where instead the bogies are clipped onto the body. Anyone here could show me a photo of a long coach (25-36 cm ones) separated from its base? PS. the image I attached is from the LNER composite coach that came with the Flying Scotsman train set https://uk.hornby.com/products/lner-composite-coach-era-3-r4332
  5. Hi all I know that for a loco to have high pulling power, it needs to be heavy to avoid wheel slip. Manufacturers never give specifics on this so is there actually a way to know the pulling power of a loco or is the only way to find out is to play by the ear when you acquire a new loco?
  6. https://uk.hornby.com/products/br-ffa-container-wagon-with-two-30-containers-era-7-r6425 I'm thinking about getting this wagon simply for the purpose of mounting action camera(s) so for those who own this model... 1) how long is the plank (not including the couplers)? 2) are the containers easily detachable?
  7. This is the one I bought: https://uk.hornby.com/products/flying-scotsman-train-set-r1255m I also have the Merchant Navy (rebuilt) clan line centenary edition, its pony truck is flanged, pivots, and sits perfectly on the track.
  8. For this particular unit I received from Amazon, the pony truck hangs in mid air even when the loco is sitting flat on a straight track, is that normal? I looked at several videos of railroad loco on youtube and non of them had the pony truck behave like that.
  9. Thank you all for the great info! Much appreciated! But I guess my question really is: if the Railroad FS bundled in the train set is the same as the one sold separately and they are both DCC ready, then why does one have a wire in-between and the other doesn't?
  10. But is it still possible to fit the speaker into the tender in this case when there's no wire in between? What is the wire there for anyway since decoders all have very long wires themselves connected to their speakers? such as this one: https://www.frontlinehobbies.com.au/assets/full/HOR-R8106.jpg?20210309034843
  11. My FS is from the train set, is it possible to buy the flanged pivot pony truck separately?

    HM6000 Controller

I switch it off at the point power, the settings stay with the app, not the controller, so it's fine.
  13. What about the non-railroad version of the Flying Scotsman? Does it have flanged wheels? Also, I had a look at the stand-alone railroad Flying Scotsman, it has a wire connection between loco and tender, where as the one from the train set doesn't. Yet, both are sold as DCC ready on many retailers' websites. Why's that?
  14. Thnx, 96RAF! I also noticed that the connection is much faster if you choose BLE.
