  1. Hi both To answer your questions and pose a few more... I do have quite a few locos as my brother's are all on my system as well so I'll check the groups I may well have hit 64. I have eLink and the Elite, both are showing as connected - Can I use both the elite and the elink to drive locos or can I use only one? If so how do I connect them. I currently have the elink powering the track and programming track and connected via USB to the laptop. The elite is connected via USB to the laptop and plugged in to the mains. I have no wire connecting the track and elite directly. I've not been able to local a connection diagram anywhere. Am I best using only one of them eg the elite with a select and forgetting the elink? Many thanks for your time

  3. Hi I'm using hornby rail master on a PC with an elite connected via USB and an e-link. I'm sure I've missed something incredibly obvious but no idea what as I've spent hours trying and I can't work out where I've gone wrong. So two problems. Some locos work, some don't. Lots of the earlier locos I set up on rail master work fine. However at the moment if I add a loco they don't work. I can programme numbers, read them on the programming tracks however none respond when on the layout. The locos work fine on my test track under DCC. I'm wondering if there is some limit that I've reached In terms of locos? 2: My elite is connected and shows on the rail master screen but I can't get it to make locos respond. The settings are all as per the manual. If anyone can spare some time to suggest solutions that would be really appreciated.
  4. Yes I can confirm only the elite had power from the mains to it and only the elite was powering the track. I emailed Hornby last week but still awaiting a response. What would you suggest that I do next?
  5. Ok thanks I'll do that. Mod note: post edited to correct the misuse of blue button error where the new text was not separated from the quote text.
  6. It stays on until the dial is touched. However it then shorts and won't boot up again for a while properly. EG It starts the cycle and then resets on a kind of loop. Mod note: edited to correct the blue button misuse error. Not separating the new text from the quote
  7. I was using them via the connector lead with mains power going in to the Elite and the track power being fed from the elite. The only cable going in to select was the connector cable from the elite. This has worked fine for ages. When the elite stopped working, I thought I'd try the select with mains power in to that then the track power coming from the select as well. The elite was completely unplugged at this point. I've subsequently found there was a loco that was very slightly derailing on the front driving wheel that was catching an opposite rail as it went over a point, this was causing the short. I've now tried it with a friend's controller and all works fine. However I am still left with my own controllers not working.
  8. Wonder if anyone can help. I think my track has shorted my DCC elite and select controllers. I've unplugged them from the track and every time I turn them on I get the following... Elite - it loads up but then keeps restarting, and there was a bit of a burning smell. Select - Keeps going to 'OL' (flashing), and ticking or just has a blank screen and ticking. My hypothesis is that I'm wondering whether my point motors reset the polarity of the frogs on some points as I started getting a few sparks as locos went over the frogs. I'm using peco bullhead oo points with DCC Concepts Cobalt digital point motors. Any help gratefully received.
