  1. I just thought I'd try the blue Loco which wasn't working on DCC and wasn't connecting to the app last night. I really don't understand it but it's working fine both sounds and movement on the long address that I had originally set it to on my elink. In the app it now shows the Loco is connected with the blue coloured bluetooth symbol. I don't understand this at all I was going to unassign the Loco unlink and delete it as was suggested and then start from scratch. It seems I don't need to do anything else. Although I'm very surprised I'm also really pleased. Thank you again for your help it really makes a difference when a novice like me gets a bit of guidance, without the advice I've had here I'd have been scared of doing anything for fear of causing damage.
  2. Hello again. I've unassigned the green loco and then unlinked and deleted the decoder as described here by you good people. This loco now responds perfectly both sound and movement on DCC via my elink on address 3. I previously said the app showed the 2 Loco's the wrong way round in fact it doesn't it shows them correctly ? must be my eyesight or I wasn't looking properly. The green Loco still appears in the engine shed as well as the blue one, there is a button saying delete unassigned Loco's or something like that, would I be right to click on that. All I've got to do now is get the blue Loco running again, I think I've got a bit of idea how to do it but I'm going to have a coffee first. Thanks again much appreciated
  3. I'm struggling just now the other Loco isn't responding at all on DCC or bluetooth, I'm sure it's because of what I did yesterday. The Loco I thought wasn't connecting actually was when I checked the serial number. I had saved the Loco details for the green one and the blue one (they are both the same engine apart from the colour) but the app is showing them the wrong way round, maybe that's me but I don't think I'd have made such an elementary mistake. This means the Loco I have on ebay is fine but I'll have to sort out the other one later I've got to go hospital visiting just now. Thanks again I really do appreciate any help at all, I really don't know what I'm doing.
  4. Thanks to both of you, that's really helpful. I'm going to take the other txs loco off the track and see if that makes any difference, the app still isn't connecting to this decoder. If I can't get it to connect I'll just remove it and use it in another Loco, I'm not really bothered about bluetooth. I can't sell it on with this problem.
  5. Hello again. I've had r3973 Sir Nigel Gresley on ebay for a couple of weeks and thought I'd better unlink the TXS decoder now before someone makes an offer. I tried the Loco on DCC first as the Loco had been sat in the box for a while and all was fine. The problem is the app on my android tablet isn't connecting to it. The tablet is fine there is another TXS Loco on the track and that shows the blue connected symbol. I clicked on unlink anyway but it said it couldn't do it and I should unassign it and try again, I didn't do this as I couldn't figure it out. After this I tried the Loco on DCC via my elink and it didn't work, after some head scratching I found the address had been changed to 3 and after changing the Loco address on Railmaster it still didn't work. I changed cv 29 to 2, it had been set to a long address and that didn't make any difference, I then changed cv 12 to 0 it was set at 2 it's now working perfectly via my elink. Although the app showed not connected it must have done something. My problem is that on my tablet the bluetooth symbol still shows red not connected. I don't want to sell the loco with this problem, if it's not something that I'm doing wrong I think I'll remove the decoder and alter the listing accordingly. Thank you in advance for any help given
  6. I use an Hornby elink and it does everything I need. I think it's something to consider you can read and write cvs and I think you'll probably be able to do what you want although I'm not sure about cv values above 255, someone else here may probably know more than me I'm a bit of a novice myself. If you look on ebay they often go quite cheaply but you need to make sure you get the CD as well, or brand new from Amazon they are £84.99 maybe even cheaper if you shop around. Only thing is you would need an old laptop or possibly a tablet I'm not sure about the tablet so you'd have to check on that. Hope this helps.
  7. I'll do the cv changes now I know I'm on the right track. And good to know the other tips as well. Many Thanks it's much appreciated.
  8. Hello again. After looking at the documentation I think I need to change the value of cv 62 which is currently set to 5 and cv 66 which is currently set to 15. I haven't changed anything yet but think need to change cv 62 to 1 and cv 66 to 11. I think this will stop the bell ringing at random but will it still be manually selectable. I haven't checked the green one yet it's in the box and I don't like handling it unless absolutely necessary. I do know they are both the same sound profile SD002. Thanks again
  9. I will have a look at the documentation before I do anything at all. Having read the last two posts I think it must be different settings between the two decoders. There is another possibility I haven't used either of these Loco's very much perhaps half an hour each, maybe if I run the green one a bit longer I might get the bells on that as well. I did notice the bell when installing the sound profile and trying it with the app on the 21 pin more or less straight away after selecting the automatic function I didn't get that with the 8 pin. I don't use the app other than to install the sound profiles. When using DCC via my elink the 21 pin ran for a few minutes before I got the bells, possibly I haven't run the 8 pin as much. If it is in the settings I wonder if that would that affect the automatic function. I'm not really bothered if I can't turn the bells off they do sound good just not what I expected. Thank you for the help received it really is appreciated.
  10. I will have a look at the function settings as suggested by Fishmanoz , not all that clued up about that though. It sounds better as well but I managed to fit a slightly bigger speaker so that's probably why.
  11. They are both Hornby Dublo Sir Migel Gresley the green one is 8 pin the blue one is 21 pin. They both have the latest sound file on which is version 2 if I'm not mistaken. Just wondered ?
  12. I was wondering if there is a difference between a 21 pin TXS decoder vs an 8 pin. The reason I ask is that I have both in two A4 Loco's, I like to use the auto function mainly because of the brake squeal when stopping without me having to do anything. On the 21 pin decoder every so often you hear bells rather like on American trains, I don't get this with the 8 pin version. As anyone else noticed this. I'm not complaining about this it actually sounds rather good but I'm just a bit curious.
  13. I'm sure I've read somewhere a person moaning about them, I can't remember where it might not have been on here, so I thought I'd like to do the opposite the least I could do they really put themselves out for me.
  14. Re my recent post about selling my Hornby Dublo Sir Nigel Gresley in green I mentioned a couple of problems with the blue one that I had purchased. Hornby customer care have sorted out a replacement tender top which arrived this morning and the vacuum pipe is apparently in the accessory pack. I am really pleased with how my enquiry was dealt with, in my opinion Hornby customer care is second to none and I thought it was worth a mention here. I am now undecided wether to sell the green one or keep it in view of my blue one now being perfect. My thanks to Hornby if they read this.
  15. Hello again. I've not touched the loco since fitting the decoder the other night. I got it up and running today and it really sounds good much better than the green one.. I noticed two things with my new blue Loco firstly the green one has a vacuum pipe on the front this one hasn't and I don't think I've knocked it off, there is a review of the blue one on you tube and that's not got the pipe on the front either so maybe it doesn't have it. The second problem which I'm more bothered about is the lining on the tender has a small gap where it looks like the paint ran out it's a bit of a disappointment after the green one which was perfect. I've messaged Hornby but don't know if they can or will do anything I don't want to return the Loco. By the way I've decided to keep the green one it's exquisite.
