My Elite controller is 1 year and 1 month old so not covered by warranty but now has 2 buttons 3 & 5 which need repeated pressing to work if at all. Has anybody else had this problem? Is the a solution?

Good afternoon Another relative 'newbie' here. I have a Horby Select controller and have managed the basic settings, acceleration etc. but my new Rapido Class 28 engine runs very poorly at sloiw speed and it was suggested than increasing the start voltage would help. Can I do this with Select. Any advice would be appreciated. Mod note - title amended to reflect actual question.

Hi I am a real novice to model railways so any advice would be appreciated. I have a Hornby Arnold N guage Brighton Belle 2 car set with a Ruby DCC93 6 pin decoder installed and the performance is very disappointing with very crude accelerating and breaking compared to my Graham Farish Highlander which is very smooth. Is it the quality of the decoder or the way the decoder is set or is this normal for this engine?
