  1. Too Tall What 3D printer did you get? The 3D print of the J52 looks good from your photos 🙂
  2. I think where Peco are going with their priming before painting is as you say to avoid the paint being absorbed and distorting the model. All is required is a light dusting of spray paint that you get in a rattle-can. These are cellulose based and quick drying so will avoid moisture absorption (unless you apply too much) and really needs to be done outside. I like matt black followed by matt white which helps with shading/depth. There is no reason why you couldn’t use a spray matt varnish sparingly for this. You can buy commercially available primers from DIY outlets (B&Q etc) but I expect this is not the cheaper option. I was going to mention 4Ground who made a range of 20ml acrylic paints for MDF (etc) buildings - but discover they went into liquidation a year ago (2022) ☹️
  3. Too Tall I would go with static grass. Whilst the applicators can be expensive (check out EBay) the results are better, especially if you use the glues for static application.

  5. @Silver Fox 17 Thanks for that. Interesting to listen to Simon Kohler talking about TT:120 and hinting at future releases by Hornby; and ‘another’ manufacturer next year. So the whistle was machined incorrectly, said that this has now been corrected for future releases. See what happens?
  6. Hi HMDCC app is available for iOS users 🙂 Unfortunately, not for Android yet 😕 Mod note - this thread locked, for further discussion see HM | DCC section.
  7. Rallymatt Great skills! Not sure I have the confidence to start pulling my Mk1’s apart, but maybe one day?
  8. Dave Despite the eBay and credit card cover, annoying and disappointing that you haven’t received your Gaugemaster 4 track controller. Good Luck with the resolution.
  9. Thanks for the reply? I gather then that the R7321 HM7000-6 Bluetooth DCC Decoder has no sound but will operate the Class 08 using their HM7000 app.
  10. Hi 96RAF You say the Class 08 has a 6 pin No Sound decoder socket, meaning (suggesting) you are unable to fit the Hornby R7321 HM7000-6 Bluetooth DCC Decoder to it. This must mean that to run it on DCC you will need a DCC controller such as Hornby’s Elite Digital Controller? Or can you fit the 6 pin Bluetooth DCC Decoder to the Class 08 and run it using the HM7000 app but without sound? New to DCC/HM7000 so thought I would ask as others who are new are bound to be wondering the same. If not, why are Hornby pushing HM7000 as the ‘best thing since sliced bread’ when some of their new TT:120 locos won’t run on the HM7000 app.
  11. Singer33 May be worth taking a look on YouTube, here is one link involving gluing the track: Obviously other videos are available all with their own advice on the matter of gluing, pinning or using screws.
  12. Hi Singer33 Good start, like the use of drawing pins to secure the track. Are you gluing or pinning the track (obviously not with drawing pins 😂 ).
  13. Hi Just had some track delivered including TT8013 Uncoupling Ramp Assembly. This will fit to TT8012 Half Straight Track (83mm). Instructions: Contains three separate parts which are not difficult to assemble. Not sure this can be servo operated as the lever has no hole just a peg to operate it manually and the lever is only about 1mm wide? This may be possible with some ingenuity?
