  1. Morning All I'm looking for a bit of advice on effects or examples of models that you have completed but gone for the damaged look either standalone of for a diorama Thank you in advance, apologies to the moderators as it wasn't model type specific for the forum. Cheers Jay
  2. You can still get Humbrol No70 Have a look at the Humbrol Acrylic landscape set It's the old screw cap pots, so can't guarantee if the paint will still be good Cheers Jay
  3. Hi, Yes I've come up against this problem with a resin building I have purchased There are very well known brand alternatives (unsure with forum rules if I can mention other brands) that could give you a really good alternative I have purchased one and are now able to progress with my resin building Good luck I agree the website needs updating to stipulate what paints you need and what is out of stock or no longer available
  4. Nice Sherman, Like the camouflage pattern a detail, was this hand painted ?
  5. Can anyone advise I'm now confused as I've seen the paints required on the outside the box as listed above in my first post. but apparently the manual and printed paint scheme within the box only lists 4 paints to be used for the colour scheme. Is the outside box listed paints for if the Humbrol paint catalogues were changed ?
  6. Evening I've recently returned to the hobby and was looking at maybe purchasing the Tiger Mid Version On my research I'm a bit surprised to find that half the required acrylic paints for this model are no longer available, I do understand that humbrol will only produce paints that will sell. But does anyone know if they are out of stock and awaiting new stock or just simply discontinued And advice on acrylic alternatives is greatly appreciated The acrylic paints I'm struggling to locate are - 84, 92, 93, 182, 252, I already have the following - 33, 34, 53, 61, 160, Have the same issue for my European city steps Requiring 28, ,64, 79, 87, 120, 121, 140, 145, 147, 187 Apologies for the endless questions Cheers Jay
  7. Evening All Has anyone got any tips for using/applying powders (type of brush) and washes to finished models that have been painted by brush in acrylic paint When is the best time to apply and how to protect the application from handling etc ? Any advice or tips is greatly appreciated as always Thank you for your time Cheers Jay
  8. Looking really good, How did you find painting these? As I've looked at this set plus the set with the landing craft.
  9. Does seem a bit puzzling as if the turret was to traverse it would be underneath, I would assume an access plate/panel Have you had a look online at a Tiger mark 1 owners manual that should give you an extremely detailed breakdown ?
  10. Call me old school but if I'm honest I prefer the pots and just use what I need on a brush. I can see where the dropper bottles come into their use but still prefers the pots. Can't comment on the airbrushing as I prefer the brush finish.
  11. Can always give it a whirl, visit your local tackle shop or watch a few videos online for beginners guides. I recommend start with small fish (silvers) down the canal, stream or river or what evers local to you and see how you go from there its how I started a long time ago First ever fish was roach on the canal or cut as they are called that in my local area. Favourite species is a perch or tench. Believe me catching all day or catching absolutely nothing is so enjoyable just being outside watching the nature or the world go by Just a tip remember to buy a fishing licence as if your caught without one it can result in a trip to court and/or a hefty fine happy to give advice Cheers Jay
  12. I found having a few hobbies over the years keeps me busy. In late spring, summer and early autumn I usually like to go fishing and if the weather's bad as a typical British summer can be I drop back onto my airfix Have you ever tried or seen flying tying for a hobby? You can copy well know or unknown patterns or make your own and see what works Cheers Jay
  13. Hi All please see a solution that has worked for me due to the fumes for the glue when building my airfix models I have been using this for a few weeks now and haven't experienced any issues since using this I have taped over the brand names as I was unsure if you can display them in photos on the forum unless a moderator can confirm as I can mentioned that in another reply please note the mask is a larger mask (excluding the filters) as most are sold as medium size as standard I know some may go that's a good idea or wow that a bit much but do hope it may help someone but obviously please do your own research and decide on what works for you the filters are not standard filters, the ones fitted are designed to filter out organic and in organic fumes/vapours to a certain level Cheers Jay
  14. Hi Ratch I think I've found a solution with the use of a mask, would it be okay for me to post here what it is and a photo. Is there anything i should be aware of before posting / maybe including a photo Kind Regards Jay
