  1. Hi, i’m going to have to put a decal over a hatch that opens on my model. The decal will overlap the hatch & the fuselage. Do i fix the decal whole whilst the hatch is closed & then cut it after to allow the hatch to open or cut it prior to applying it & attach the 2 halves separately in their respective positions ? Thx in advance
  2. Hi, anyone who has or is building the 1:24 Spitfire know where part D49 goes ? searched through the instruction booklet & cant find it anywhere. Any help much appreciated πŸ‘πŸΌ
  3. Might be a daft question but i’m getting to the part of my model which requires me to insert a clear plastic instrument panel into the cockpit. This will need painting black & then decals applied after for the instruments. My question is, do i need to prime the clear plastic part first as per the rest of the kit or is it best to just airbrush the black colour straight on ? I will be using Humbrol Acrylics. Thx
  4. Totally agree with you. just a bit daunting when you see how far modelling techniques have moved on over the last 50 years since i last picked up a kit. I think one thing ive realised is i’m overthinking a lot. I guess i just want to do my kit justice. Really appreciate your comments tho πŸ‘πŸ»
  5. Hi Andy, thx for that. Ive read about applying a gloss varnish before the decals. I assumed this was all over but others have mentioned about just glossing where the decals will be placed to avoid β€œsilvering β€œ πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Bit of a minefield when there are so many opinions etc but i appreciate your input mate πŸ‘πŸ»
  6. Hi, a begin again modeller here trying to get my head around the general consensus of the processes for priming, painting & varnishing my Spitfire build. Having looked through loads of posts on here, can any experienced kit builders let me know if this sounds right pls ? ( Using airbrushed acrylics ) Prime everything 2 - 3 coats Paint colour schemes etc Gloss varnish all over Apply decals Weather etc Gloss varnish again Matt or Satin varnish for final coat. I guess everyone probably has a various methods & tricks for getting good results but just wanted to get a heads up for all the different items i will need to purchase. Ive got all the paints, thinners, decalfix, glues etc so if I'm missing anything, please chip in & let me know. Much appreciated πŸ‘πŸ»
  7. Thx for that. will check them out πŸ‘πŸ»
  8. Hi, returning modeller from 40+ years ago. Wondered which air brush & compressor make would modellers on here recommend ? Never had them back in the day so new to it all. I don't mind spending money to get a decent one as i’d like to do a good job on my build. Many thx
