  1. Hi All, I have been working on my layout for the past year and a half (on and off) and have reached a point where I want to dabble with automation. Has anyone managed to get to block detection with an Elite? I cannot afford to start a new set-up with Digitrax etc., so thought would ask. I did get very excited with the Railmaster Program function but soon realized that: 1) I can only run one loco at any time even if on different track segments 2) The locos slow down when running the programs which throws away the start and stop points I am aware that Hornby is looking into loco detection for years so am not holding my breath. Any success stories out there, I would be really keen to hear. Thanks.
  2. Hi all, I have a DCC layout with mostly Hornby locos, and an Elite controller. I plan to move into computer control. Is it possible to introduce block detection into this set up, without changing the Eilte? So far I understand: Detection module (IR or current or light) -> DCC decoder-> Elite-> Computer software Is this correct? If yes, can I use R8247 as the DCC decoder? Any recommendations for this DCC decoder which will work with Hornby for block detection? Apologies if my query is incorrect. Just trying to make sense of this complex piece. Thanks.
  3. HI All, I managed to get my hands on a R2000 controller and all the problems are now resolved. Maybe something to do with the volt/amps with the older controller.
  4. Hi all, thanks for your replies. I doubt it is the tracks as I used some brand new nickel silver tracks and the issue remains. One thing I forgot to mention was that when I run both the engines on the track, with one controller, they work fine. I have the R965 controller with P9000W power adapter.
  5. Hi all, So my son got couple of used engines (Blue Highlander and Flying Scotsman) and tracks from one of his aunts. They were boxed and in mint condition. We set up everything but the engines do not run smoothly. They start, slow down, then pick up, slow down, pick up round the tracks. The engines are also running at high speed even with a slight turn of the controller and it is impossible to run the trains slow. I tried both engines, and the issue remains. We got two old style transformer/plugs and the issue persists with both of them. What exactly are we doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
