  1. To quote Oscar Wilde "There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about" Oscar Wilde
  2. Received two parcels this morning containing BR Intercity Mk3 coaches on separate deliveries from DPD. The first parcel contained a Tourist first and a Restaurant/Buffet; the second the other five Mk3 coaches. I will now claim the £3.95 postage per coach which was charged when I pre-ordered the items as each parcel has a value exceeding £50. This should give a refund of £27.65.
  3. Are the container wagons the same as those in the Arnold range but with different containers? They look the same except for having different colours.
  4. and then off to Mexico for final testing.
  5. I think that you pay £16.66 less per £100 giving £83.34. If you add 20% VAT to £83.34 you get £100. (It may be 1p out depending on how rounding to the nearest penny is handled). I mention this so the best decision is made on buying.
  6. The font size and contrast is difficult for elderly eyes. Could something be done about it, within the site, such as allowing a larger font to be selected when viewing?
  7. This talks about 3B coaches "with the MK3Bs being paired with the Class 43 HSTs. The consist of the train is usually made up of a rake of up to nine Mark 3B coaches". According to Wikipedia Mark 3 (not Mark 3B) coaches are used with HST. Mark 3B were used as loco-hauled stock.
  8. Good spot! According to Wikipedia the ISS orbits with an average altitude of 400 kilometres (250 mi), For that authentic look place the assembled model 3.33 kms (2.08 mi) above your model railway. Alternatively subscribe to spotthestation (a NASA site) to receive emails about when the ISS is visible over your area and watch it for free. It is visible as the setting or rising sun illuminates on it.
  9. I think it refers to the Hornby event at Rails of Sheffield Store from 15th to 17th February. The details are on their Facebook page.
  10. I recall from some time ago that you will get a refund on the postage if the parcels could/should have been sent together. I don't think you should be charged more than the total amount on the invoice, which is a contractual agreement. You need to contact customer care.
  11. TTA Total Tanker in stock - apparently 16 left according to the value buried in the HTML code for page. 42 left for ESSO
  12. FOMO - fear of missing out. Keep "Last Few" in the listings so people will buy for FOMO!
  13. The difference in price between sound-fitted and non-sound-fitted locomotives is £55 except for the Class 43 HST Train Pack where the difference is £110. This suggests that both engines have sound fitted which is a surprise to me. Does this mean that both engines are powered? If only one engine is powered could I get away with just one sound chip?
  14. Thank you John. I have no idea how my post was sent out three times. I've not started on the Christmas sherry yet. My Hornby-Dublo 2-rail Bo-Bo diesel has rubber tyres which have to be replaced when they stretch after prolonged use. I'd not used it for a number of decades but it did run when I got it out during lockdown. My impression was that rubber tyres are used for traction when the wheel diameter is small. The other replaceable parts are the brushes used to transfer current to the rotating ??.
