    Bus Wire

Thank you all for taking the time to answer me and pointing me in the right direction where to find further advise.

    Bus Wire

Thanks for that Rog, I know you shouldn’t join them up in Dcc but wasn’t sure about Dc, it just a small layout for my grandchildren.

    Bus Wire

If you are using a Bus Wire on a DC layout for better connectivity does the bus wire just end like on DCC or do you need to connect it up back at the start to make a circuit
  4. Thanks LT - I think we had it sorted a few posts back minus the comma/full stop lol, it became a wee bit confusing after that. For Dcc I need to use the Power Cab in the future this may change
  5. But my point is switch off the Bluetooth on your device and the app doesn’t work. Put a loco on the track that doesn’t have a Bluetooth decoder and the app doesn’t work so essentially the app ONLY works with the Bluetooth switched on and only works over Bluetooth, with Bluetooth enabled decoders - is that right.
  6. Thanks for all this guy’s and yes I should have said full stop after Bluetooth. When…….But I can only control loco’s which have the Bluetooth decoders fitted via the app, I have tried my 08 on it with a normal decoder fitted and I can’t control it with the app, and selecting Dcc also does nothing for the loco’s, fitted with Bluetooth decoders, no control at all, via the app, if I turn off the Bluetooth on my device I have no control via the app. So the app only controls things via Bluetooth and not Dcc so why put a Dcc option in the app when you can only really use Bluetooth.
  7. Now I get it LT, I think, so the app will only control it via Bluetooth when I select Dcc in the app I still need to control it with a Dcc controller like the Power Cab, is that right ?I was thinking the app could control it in either mode simply by switching usage in the app. I understand they are two separate entities on the decoder and so I can switch between them with no detrimental effects to either. One last question the cv values set when setting up in Bluetooth do they remain the same when I switch to Dcc.
  8. Thanks Fishy - I installed the TT A4 sound profile from the list whilst in Bluetooth which I assumed was the correct one, but could not get Dcc to work on the app. I managed to get it working on the Power Cab by altering the long address, but this is only on a small programming track, I think I had got confused between long and short addresses, my fault, the thing is it appeared to move only slowly on the programming track but this is only a short length of track and my not be long enough for it to accelerate correctly, perhaps with a longer length of track it would accelerate correctly, I will try with a longer length of track. The auto calibrate is that done via the app and if I put it back on the app using Bluetooth will it effect it on the Dcc using the power cab
  9. Yes Moawkwrd I was having the same problem no movement no sound - My intention was always to use it via the Power Cab and not the app but I initially set my A4 up via the app and not the Power Cab. I’ve two other loco’s Mallard (with sound) and a 08 Shunter, with a decoder, neither have been installed via the app but gone straight to the Power Cab and they set up and worked ok on the Cab. The A4 was the problem having set it up on the app and the Cab couldn’t seem to recognise it and I couldn’t get it to work via the Cab. I have now after many attempts got it running via the Cab though not as smoothly as the other two , I managed by changing the long number address for it but I’m guessing I might have to change some of the CV’s to get it running like the other two. There’s still no way I can get it to run via the DCC on the app, but that was never my priority so I’m happy with getting them all to work with the Cab, but I sure am grateful for the help I got from people on this forum which steered me in the right direction when I thought I’d really messed things up
  10. So 96RAF what you’re saying is this is nothing I’ve done or can do anything about and that it’s a fault within the app. Is this problem universal and have other people found it’s all fine in Bluetooth but fails in Dcc mode ?
  11. Ok guys many thanks for all the help, but………there’s always a but, it works fine on Bluetooth sound/movement both ok, but when I switch to Dcc in CV12 or on the control icon, nothing happens, no movement no sound - any ideas please - I’ve looked at the instructions but it doesn’t seem clear other than selecting Dcc what else I need to do and I’m somewhat reluctant to press buttons that I don’t know what the outcome will be.
  12. Thanks guys worked my way through the instructions and it's all back up with sound and running again, just shows the value of these forums when you're a novice.
  13. Thanks guys for all the advice, you don't know how much I appreciate it. The wife said the other day how good it sounded chugging round the track, lol I wasn't looking forward to telling her I dropped a clanger and now it wasn't working at all, especially seeing that it was her that got me the set in the first place. I'll give all of the above a go and let you know, thanks 96RAF for telling me to I couldn't have deleted everything from the decoder, that was definitely a worry, again much appreciated to all of you.
  14. Yes DS HM7000 Ive scanned for the decoder but brings nothing back
  15. Thanks GU it’s a difficult hobby to get your head around
  16. I need some help (I'm new to all of this and clearly not as savvy as I thought I was) I've got the A4 William Whitelaw DCC with sound fitted decoder which I've used ok via the app but I've now purchased a NCE Power Cab and I've tried to programme it onto the power cab and it said cannot read CV. I thought maybe it's something to do with it being linked on the app so I put it back on the app and somehow managed to find reset factory setting which I thought that should do (Woe is me for being so silly) anyway to cut a long story short I did that and it gave me a code number which I've jotted down (don't know what to do with it though, like I said pressing buttons not knowing what's going to happen is silly me) Now it won't find the decoder on either the app or the power cab. I know this may give some of you technical savvy people a laugh and think what a idiot, and I humbly accept I've pressed things not knowing what exactly is going to happen, but I really could do with some help here folks because at the moment my A4 with DCC fitted sound does nothing, no sound, no movement.
  17. Can anyone recommend a 6 pin decoder for the above Shunter, I don’t need sound I just want to be able to run it with my NCE DCC controller, the Hornby one seems a long way off.

    Track Code

Thanks for the explanation PH and thanks Fishy for that. So am I right in thinking Fishy that I could use Peco flexi track and Hornby fixed track together, it’s just that Hornby don’t appear to have flexi track at this time and obviously Peco do and it would be much easier using flexi track in long straights, long corners, but sticking with Hornby for things like points
  19. When looking around I see that the available track for TT 120 is - Hornby code 80 Tillig code 83 and Peco code 55. I am a newbie and find this all rather confusing. Are these all compatible with each other or do you have to build your layout in one particular code or can you mix and match. Do the loco’s available run on all of these codes.
  20. Until I receive this Arnold Tt120 train I had not grasped how small this scale is - I’m new to this and I don’t think I imagined them being so small, how due people cope with scales smaller than this
