  1. Just checked the latest meta data and there are now two dates for the coach eras. The era 7 (BR Blue) are now 23rd May and the era 8 (BR Grey) are still 21st May.

Must be a dispatch change so they are not overwhelmed, not sure what OO stuff is also being released this week.

No, that’s not how eBay works. The price of £175 is set by the seller. We all know they didn’t pay that. Disappointing

The seller puts in a base price then the buyers bid. The current bid is £175, there have been several bids made. A similar thing happened to me once when I sold an item for £20 base price, I think I got around £150.

Class 50's are my favorite loco (as my profile pic 🙂 ) . I currently have 17 in '00' scale, 7 Hornby and 10 Lima.   Don't currently have 50040 so I can justify having one (or more 🙂 ) in TT scale.

Wow! you really do like the class 50, only 1 though and not both? The only OO loco I have are an Airfix Class 31 which has © 1977 on the box so I'm assuming that is when the tooling was done. The class 50 can carry the torch so to speak until the 31 eventually arrives in TT scale.

Is this still the case as the April edition of the club mag says 18th June release.

30th May for DC LMS era 3and 12th June for era 4 & 5 at the moment. Hopefully these dates will remain.

Edit: The DCC versions are currently 26th June for LMS and 26th July for era 4 & 5.

I will be waiting a bit longer - Rails of Sheffield have my order.  I doubt that Hornby would be shipping to the retailers early, so that the release date is consistent.

I have still have three MKI coaches on pre-order with Hornby - no idea when these will be released.  Hopefully in a couple of months time, so that the credit card has time to recover.

Not sure which mk1 you have on order, as far as I am aware all mk1s are available. The mk2f are due tomorrow and the mk2e are next April/May.

  6. It looks like we’re still on for D Day tomorrow. Still down for 21st. Fingers crossed the 50s and mk2 coaches are released.

Mines going to be busy with main line express, branch line local and freight duties lined up.

  7. If Hornby announced a pre-order for the Blue 08 then it wouldn't happen. Hornby are shooting themselves in the foot by removing it and obviously are making too much revenue so they don't need a good selling item on the website.

Martin said in an interview he was happy for people to earn by selling stuff 2nd hand, unfortunately Hornby doesn't profit from 2nd hand eBay sales.

I switched to magnetic couplers on all my passenger TT stock and Dapol Easi-fits for the freight.

I use the magnetic ones also, not had a decoupling since. Makes it easier for swapping coaches / wagons in & out too.

Panic over - we're back to 2024-06-26! for Duchess of Atholl. I guess these dates aren't too reliable.

@Tim Allen I wonder why they left the speaker out of the DC HST but put it in the DC tender locos.

probably the expense of putting in two and giving a speaker with the decoder. Glad the digital versions are back on track.

Hornby are planning to model classes 73 and 800, however no release dates are given on page 25 of the latest  catalogue https://d63oxfkn1m8sf.cloudfront.net/6617/1447/1661/2024_Hornby_TT120_Catalogue_40pp_Ediiton_24.3_WEB.pdf

you're talking 2 years away minimum probably 3-4 realistically, unless they are part of one of the 'surprise' announcements that may or may not be mentioned later this year.

Getting excited for the 50 and MK2 release.  Hope it’s not too delayed.

Me too, I hope it doesn't move again. I do suspect we dropped back to the 21st due to 17th being a Friday and having to do all those pre-orders end of week. Tuesday gives them Monday to despatch all the weekend orders before release.

It may all be nonsense and have a completely different reason for the delay...

Hornby have not made any MK1 sleepers since the 1980's at least which were based on the old Triang tooling.  They have never been produced in the latest Railroad or main range variants.

I remember the sleepers in the catalogue as a kid, it was around 82/83 then. An era 7 Buffet car that didn't have 125 across it would be nice though.

  13. So far then it looks like a Restaurant / Buffet car in Era 7 or 8 (I suspect 7 BR Blue) is the most popular of the limited audience. This is followed by a Brake Gangwayed in era 7. For eras 4 &5 the First and standard (Third) corridor coaches.

From the ramble video I saw it would seem sleeper coaches are not popular with Hornby as they tend to stay in their warehouse.

Thank you to all who voted.

  14. I think the Class 800s are bi mode so would be a good start to both modern era and electric locos. They fit with the current Hornby thinking of diesel due to more widespread appeal. I read that they are in use on both East and West Coast Mainlines and soon to be introduced to the Midland Mainline by EMR with the 810 Aurora.

  15. Only the digital duchess has dropped back to July. The LMS is 29th this month along with the 57' coaches in era 3, 4, & 5. The Era 4 & 5 Duchesses are 12th June for DC versions. This is also the release date set for the HAA hoppers.

The class 50 for both DC & DCC and era 7 & 8 are now 21st of this month along with the Mk2f coaches.
