Tuning vintage Scalextric - beginning with the Cooper Minis

Hiya, I am new to this forum.

I am looking for advice on doing a bit of tuning on some old Scalextric I bought second-hand, particulary the Cooper minis. These run fine, like little demons - the trouble is contrlling them and getting them to go around any bends other than banked track.

I wondered if more controllable motors might help????

Also google tyre (or tire) truing, and/or sanding.
