rayarpino
Hi everyone,After the expected long wait, I finally received the Stirling single today. All in all an exquisite model, runs beautifully, but I do find that the handrail knobs are somewhat overscale, not to say heavy. Maybe it is a question of avoiding over-fragile elements, but then I seriously doubt anyone would buy one of these for children or even teenagers. Fellow owners, what is your opinion? Thanks,Ray

walkingthedog
Just been comparing the model to the real thing and I think you are right. They do look a bit chunky. In fact the one on the side of the smokebox shouldn’t be a knob at all. Is a rather superb model though.
The son of Triangman
OO is a compromise scale and not true scale. It may well be a production compromise for moulding or ease of assembly purposes.
walkingthedog
Yes SoT so you often say but it’s the wheels that are too close together, the rest of modern OO locos are pretty good nowadays. Just because the back to back is the wrong scale doesn’t mean the whole loco is. 😆
