Jimbo1707820979
I have a DCC factory-fitted Thomas bought for the Young Controller which runs intermittently on both DC and DCC. If the body is lightly pressed to one side the motor runs perfectly. If pressed to the other it stops. So apparently an inside short circuit. Before I have a go at dismantling the loco could anyone please tell me what is the likely cause ? Thanks.
Howbi
Likely to be the pick-up connection on one side Jimbo........the 3 pick-ups are in the form of a horizontal bar as seen here with a solder point............HB /media/tinymce_upload/e0aa72ec80e6d682fceab0fb029e2314.jpg
Jimbo1707820979
Many thanks HB for your excellent illustrated reply. I will now investigate with much more confidence ! 😉 The loco ran very, very well for a few months. Maybe it was dropped by "someone reluctant to own up". 😆
Jimbo1707820979
All seems well now with Thomas after extensive fiddling. I appears NOT to like my new layout. Tut-tut. But hauls 6 coaches on the analog part of my old layout without effort. Thanks again, HB, for your help. (What would we do without the forum !)
