signals

Any LED based ones. I'm going to try with a standard loco decoder. The output current required is low so any decoder should work. A three output one can be used directly but I was going to look at using a two output decoder with some logic. A tenner gives

you motor speed control and two or three outputs for use anywhere on the layout as long as we watch the current limits.

if you put some logic external to the decoder then you can get have 2 x 4 aspect signals per 4 output decoder (2 x 2-to-4 decoder). the current required per aspect depends on the led and environment and.... but I often find that a few mA is sufficient

rather than the nominal 20mA.

If you take this approach is Railmaster able to control signals via loco decoders?? The two types of decoders have different addressing and are not fully interchangeable.

I use JMRI and it provides a whole lot (unlimited?)

of flexibility on how things are configured and controlled. The downside of flexibility is that it is more complex to set up.
