oh-no-its-john
Hi guysRecently bought a nice early 60's set for restoration (Set 50-using cars C72/C73 Cooper/BRM)Although I've had Scalextric in the past, I have never seen the braid system as used in these early cars before. They aren't really braids-more like fine wire brushes.Question-mine need changing-where do I get these early braids? I can't find reference to them anywhere! Many thanks. woodcote
Hi oh-no-its-john - welcome to the forum! It would try the Scalextric Restorations website, in the 'Guides & pick-up braids' page of the Spares drop-down menu. If you don't see what you need, I am sure Gary will be able to help. I am pretty sure you can solder loops braids onto the brass braid plates on those early 60s cars. Good luck!
oh-no-its-john
Thanks for that. I was able to buy some early braids by tracking down the part number. However they are long sections and I think they need to be cut down-no idea how long they would need to be so have messaged the restoration site for advice.
