Stripping paint from figures

Recommended Posts

While clearing out my parents attic, I came across of box of hundreds of 1:72/76 figures in various states of painting,

They would have all been painted with Humbrol Enamels more than 30 years ago, but is there a way of stripping this all off and giving them a new lease of life, given they are in that soft pastic?

They are a mixture of Airfix, Matchbox and ESCI if i remember righly, mostly Napoleonic and WW2

Hi Mark,

I take for such things the same spray as for cleaning up the oven (in German: Backofenreiniger)

Figures into a plasticbag and some oven spray, close the bag and wait some hours, then take a old toothbrush (or even one from your wife  😉 😆 (joke)) and some water and the figures will be mostly clean of paint.

It works very well and I tried it several times.

cheers from Germany!
