Older "Lane change challenge set" and Apps

Im new here, actually a returning racer too. I have a new analogue set, I got 2 to get a variaty of cars and track. Ive now past the initial confusion of Arc One, Arc Air, Arc Pro, and all the previous versions for digital.

So I want to get digital to record lap times and do away with the mechanical lap counter (click every 6 seconds gets annoying).

I got a mate with an old "scalextric lane change challenge set" who said I need to get an app for my Ipad and I also have to pay a rego fee (which sux).

Will this older set give me both a lap counter and lap timer in a 3rd part app or a free lite version?

Thanks

What is your friend smoking?

There are no fees and strictly speaking you don't need an app.

The only digital powerbase still produced is ARC PRO:

https://www.scalextric.com/uk-en/shop/sets/app-race-control-arc/arc-pro.html

Which also has an analog mode (that essentially makes it an ARC AIR)

All versions of ARC count laps (as long as the car has a black guideblade)

The problem with that Scalextric lane change challenge set is that depending on which version of ARC PRO you get you may have to mod the curved lane changers.
